The other huge difference is ownership. The Bears are owned by Virginia Halas McCaskey, daughter of the great George Halas, who died in 1983, 41 years ago, shortly before the Bears’ last Super Bowl win under the coaches George Halas hired before his passing. The McCaskeys treat the Bears as a cash cow, and it’s their primary source of income. And none of them have a background in football. The Packers are a publicly held nonprofit mostly owned by longtime fans in Wisconsin. They are the only such entity in American major league sports, grandfathered in when rules were adopted prohibiting such an ownership structure. No one is allowed to hold more than about 4% of the Packers shares. The elected President of the Board of Directors represents the Packers at owners meetings and is the only officer who receives compensation. Their current President and CEO, Mark Murphy, is a former NFL player who also earned an MBA and JD and had a successful career as an attorney and athletic director before the Packers hired him. In short, the person with the power of an owner in the Packers organization is far more qualified to run an NFL franchise than any other owner in the league, let alone Virginia McCaskey, who may be the least qualified owner in the league, lacking NFL experience, legal experience, or business experience. Although the Green Bay owners don’t have the resources of billionaires, they also aren’t in it to maximize profits. They want to maximize wins. And they have the freedom to hire the best qualified candidate they can find to carry out that mandate with minimal interference from the hundreds of thousands of shareholding owners.

Let’s be real though, does anyone have confidence the Bears could develop Caleb Williams? Look what they just did with Trubitsky and Fields in the last 8 years. Is it really that crazy to believe they’re just better off investing in the D and O lines and signing a game manager veteran QB? I think that’s enough to make them a WC contender and playoff spoiler. And honestly I think that’s a realistic ceiling for this franchise.

I mean look at the pats. They got QB right and won 6. Steelers got it right and won 2 (in the same conference as Peyton and Tom). Chiefs get it right and they are at 3. All in a lot less time as the Pack. Packers don't draft well. Ya had good WRs, but I bet the QBs helped that a ton. 30 years of Brett and Aaron and ya have the same ammount of superbowls as Trent dilfer and Joe Flacco. Green Bay typically won't even use a top ten pick. The last time they did was for Raji and Mathews and those guys were both pretty damn good. They might have used a top ten on Kenny Clark. I don't remember but Clark is a helluva player. It would have to be a great player for them to spend that on. I don't know what Chicago's problem is with fields. He's a good player. The issue is the Packers have only 2 Superbowls to show for it in that time frame. They had arguably the best 2 QBs of their eras. This is because they never put the rest of the team together. Bear can't get the QB right but usually has a decent def and RB. When JLove is on he is on but when he is off it's bad. He is going to need to fix that.

38 different QBs and none good enough to make a difference the odds say they are due to find a winner sometime this century

I would trade it...stock up picks to beef up other areas and get a FA qb...nonQB is worth 50mill when Flacco comes off his couch and balls out like a probowler

I'd take Justin Fields and all the other players they can draft if they trade the pick over Caleb Williams. Bears need a ton and can get more by trading down. You can't tell me that Caleb Williams is better that Fields and other players. I bet Washington, Falcons, the Colts, the Steelers... loads of teams would give a ton of picks for Caleb.

Dumb thing to say. Bears got #1 pick because they got the Panthers pick not because Bears was bad. Yes they didn’t make playoffs but they were a decent team.

It’s not that they always get it right they’ve gotten it twice in the last 32 years. That’s far from always, but the bears haven’t gotten right once in 32 so yeah that’s the difference.

Justin Fields is not a scrub. Who knows Caleb is gonna do better than him. Chi should get best player available Harrison Jr. they can always get a QB next year.

The packers set the stage for a qb to be successful. Just going and picking one early in the draft is not what they have done

Unless they change their 1950s style offense it doesn't matter who their qb is. Run, run, tey to throw on 3rd and 8 is never going to work for a qb. Especially a young one. Qbs get drafted by Chicago to go die. Fields wasn't the problem
