None of this analysis was correct. Celtics versatile defense gives them a huge edge. Mavs limited offensive players (too many of their top 8 can’t shoot, can’t score, or both.) Horford is better than all but 3 Mavs.

It is a dubious argument to say having Brown and Tatum split time defending Luka will impact the Celtics's offense given how their offense operates and that we are talking about players sharing time rather than taking on the majority of the load of guarding Luka which is the advantage Dallas exploits against other teams. Having two players that can effectively split time defending him is something most teams have not had against Dallas and Boston has the advantage of having two players that can match up well with Kyrie, too. In all honesty. Boston has 4 players that can shuffle around between Luka and Kyrie to spell defenders.

Even I as a mavs fan have to say mavs in 5 is a crazy overreaction. Celtics are incredible good. They are the favorites. Mavs only win it when it gets a mud fight. They have to run them off the 3-point line and hope for a low scoring defensive war of attrition.

As a Celtics fan I agree. But I’m not sure how the Mavs will stop the Celtics on the defensive end. The reason they beat LA, OKC, and Minnesota was because those teams are all low volume and or low percentage 3 point shooting teams which allowed the Mavs to pack the paint. The Celtics are the opposite and play 5 out which opens the paint for Tatum and Brown. In order for the Mavs to win they have to outscore the Celtics by taking advantage of Porzingis/Horford in the pick and roll since the Celtics will play drop coverage instead of switching most likely especially with Kyrie (I think they switch if it’s Luka and play drop if it’s Kyrie) If that’s the case Luka and Kyrie can cook from the mid range. I really think this will be a very high scoring series which favors the Celtics. If it’s in the muck and sludge it favors the Mavs but considering again that the Celtics 8 playoff rotation players can all shoot the 3 ball I don’t see it being in the muck and sludge unless the Celtics brick a bunch of open 3’s and then become hesitant to shoot. I think this series goes 6 either way but I’m leaning towards the Celtics.
