Als iemand de magie van een volle Bravo op zaterdagnacht kan vangen, dan is het wel Colin Benders. Tijdens de digitale editie van Lowlands 2020 doet hij namelijk precies datgene wat hij vorig jaar op Lowlands ook al deed: de zaal vullen met de meest genadeloze modulaire techno die er is. Tel daar zijn speciale lichtshow bij op en voor je het weet vergeet je dat het niet de Bravo, maar je eigen plafond is waar de zweetdruppels als regen vanaf vallen.

dude, honestly benders blows my mind every time i come across footage of him playing (still haven't been lucky enough to see him play live IRL), like how a guy manages to punch such tasty and consistent tunes out of that monster rig is beyond me! Sure, the rigs impressive, but without some serious skill to pilot that thing then it's as good as an empty table, this is exactly where benders skills outdoes any type of "wow that rig" amazement. Vote 1 artist, vote 2 that crazy modular rig!

True electronic musical artist as far as the eurorack/moog department goes, who knows exactly what his hardware can do. He gets caught up in it in all the best ways. He clearly has a good understanding of music theory, harmonies, rhythms and structures, and how to combine them into something beautiful. He also has experience with a variety of other musical genres and instruments, and singing/vocals too.

I only discovered this guy because of Covid and searching KZbin for some old tunes from when I was a teenager in the 80's. Next level, that sounds like the sweetest thing in Colin's ears I am sure of it, I knew a guy like him before, and I hated him for the chaos he created every fucking single day, while we where trying to build an actual building. And that needed a lot of planning structure and discipline, we could not be more opposite of each other, and that drained all the energy out of me, and his project fell apart as well when the police closed his scatted area. This dude combines those two sides it seems, in a good way he is a unifier of those extremes, and gave me peace with that period. Goed bezig Colin lijkt dat je toch nog iets gevonden wat een muzikaal vervolg is op de kyteman jaren, we gaan jou in de gaten houden.

He did not buy it. He build it by adding module by module over a period of 10 years and that way learning the ins and outs of every module one by one. He is a genius but still so incredibly humble and down to earth. Not like most of the famous dj's that autosync the songs and are more with their hands in the air than on the equipment :D

Maar Jean Michel Jarre werkte , net als Colin, vanuit het muzikale experiment en bouwde in het begin zijn spullen zelf.......ruim voordat Moog de markt ging bedienen met hun modulair op te bouwen synthesizer.
