Stafford’s end zone pick wasn’t bad given the situation. I don’t feel like typing it out. I think it was a smart play throwing it up. Also he was playing with backups over the stretch of the game and no run game

I'd give Kupp an A+ too. He didn't do a ton until the last drive but he was also doubled the entire game and he still made huge plays when it matter. The chemistry that Kupp and Stafford have in just 1 season looks like they've been playing together 10 years. That's a testament to the work he's putting in every day. I also think Donald could have easily one the MVP. He was a monster

that Aaron Donald play where he hit Burrow right before he went out of bounds was completely clean and great gamesmanship. He was 100% still a couple steps in bounds. If the Q takes off and runs, he is now a runner so you treat him accordingly.

The media is delusional about the Tyler Boyd drop. He's 2 yards away from a first down if he catches it and the defender tackled him right there as he dropped it, so unless you assume they would have gone for it on 4th n 2 (they were not good on 4th in the game) it was not consequential at all.

I strongly believe he would’ve easily gotten that first down. We had rams fans at the house who all thought they caught a break because of that drop. If he clean catches that he doesn’t slow down and get popped standing up how he did with the drop. Physics give him at the very least 4th and inches.

Gotta disagree. If Boyd catches that, he at least gets another yard (possibly stretches for a first down) and it's probably 90% with the momentum swing, that Taylor goes for it on 4th down if he doesn't make it. Remember...no clue where the zebra would place the ball after the catch !!

It was not a bad endzone pick, all teams make these kind of calculated risk deep passes. 3rd down and long, you go through the progression and nobody is open. You throw a 50/50 ball up in endzone...lots of good things could happen and at worst it's a touchback int same as punt.

The Boyd drop came directly after Burrows got his leg rolled up on. If you rewatch that play, Burrows doesn't drive the ball and the lack of pace really threw Boyd off. You can see it in his hands. His whole body is prepared to absorb the energy of a driven ball thrown in to a tight window. Instead, Burrow off his front foot, throws a touch pass with very little pace. Kinda like how batters get thrown off by an off-speed pitch. If a guy is throwing high 90s, you don't need a 47mph change up. Even just into the low 80s is enough to complete wreck the timing of the batter and that's how I saw that pass. It came in off-speed and threw off Boyd's timing. I dunno if that's a bad call by Zac Taylor or if Burrows needed to communicate with Boyd, but yeah... that drop was more a function of Burrows not being able to drive it like he's been doing all season than on Boyd, although Boyd will inevitably shoulder the blame.

I don’t disagree with Colin on the grade at all, but the end zone throw was on third and 14 so essentially it was a punt, however they could’ve tried a long field goal if they wanted to. The other pick was on Stafford in my opinion. Receiver was wide open, so if you put the throw on him instead of forcing him to reach down one handed, that ball doesn’t get popped in the air. Nonetheless Stafford played well.

There are some who say that that interception in the end zone was just a punt. As a lion fan, ive seen matthew put it up for grabs on a 3rd down because if it's caught, it's a TD, if it's intercepted, it's giving up the ball in a position that is just a pretty good punt. AND as terry bradshaw proclaims "a tipped pass through the hands of a receiver is NOT AN INTERCEPTION. Um, and i'd be giving OBJ an A because w/o his TD Rams would have LOST.

Stafford would have thrown 4 interceptions if the Bengals secondary played at a high level. If one watches the first two touchdown passes, they will see balls passing directly over the defensive backs. In the first instance, if the DB looks for the ball when Odell does, it is an easy break up. In the second instance, the DB locates the receiver then continues to watch him instead of turning toward the QB and looking for the ball. Bad secondary play on the part of the Bengals.

If you think Staffords pick in the endzone was "bad," then you don't understand football. It was 3rd and 14, he read the field and had no one open, so he bought time and made a judgement call to throw a 50-50 ball in the end zone. If it gets picked, ah well, it's a punt, if it's incomplete, they punt anyway, if it's completed, they get 6. Not a "bad" decision by any means.

Stafford is a very good QB but he is not Mahomes, Brady or Rodgers. Stafford did in this SB what the knock on him is...he turns the ball over too much. He had 17 INTs this year. It was the 5th time in his career where has thrown 16 or more INTs. Brady has never had that many INTs in a single 1 of his 22 seasons. Aaron Rodgers has never had that many INTs in any of his 14 seasons as a starter. Patrick Mahomes has never done it in 4 seasons. Brady, Rodgers and Mahomes have 40 combined seasons without throwing 16 INTs a single time and Stafford has done it 5 times in 12 seasons. Stafford is very good and he will likely be a HOF but he is closer to guys like Big Ben, Russ, Ryan and Rivers than he is Brady, Rodgers, Mahomes, Brees and Peyton. Stafford won because his defense held the Bengals scoreless for the last 25 minutes. The defense very likely would have held Cincy scoreless in the entire 2nd half if not for a blatantly missed offensive PI and a Stafford INT.

If it’s incomplete they punt anyway, so who cares if it’s picked? The second one was a pass that his his receiver in the hand and was tipped to a defender. It was a LITTLE behind the receiver, but that’s what happens when you have a 5th string receiver playing in the SB. I agree with your grades except for the "B+" for Stafford. Dude, Stafford deserves a solid "A" for his game-winning drive alone, which will go down as one of the all-time great drives in Super Bowl history. Without OBJ, OBJ's replacement and a running game, EVERYBODY on the planet knew that Kupp was Stafford's only option, and he did it with perfectly placed passes (including the famous "no-look" pass), poise, leadership and an iron will to go 79 yards for the game-winning touchdown. Incredible performance!
