Warren Sapp was never known to throw compliments around unless very well deserved. Therefore, it was impressive to hear him mention Bob Lilly as one of the handful of truly great NFL defensive tackles. Lilly entered the league in 1961, and played about seven superlative years before Mean Joe Greene was drafted and became a household name with the Steelers. They were both great, but many of today’s football fans never had a chance to witness and appreciate Lily’s utter dominance at defensive tackle. Another great one was “Big Daddy” Lipscomb, who could singlehandedly tackle an entire NFL backfield. However, for range, quickness, explosiveness and longevity, you couldn’t beat the great Bob Lilly. By the way, I’m not even a Cowboys fan; I just recognize greatness when I see it, and so does Warren Sapp.

@@Hopper830 Randall was a beats but he Played DE too-ppl forget that. The other two got/get the majority of their sacks from the interior. He’s NOT better than Donald, man.

@@ShadomanGThe Rams move Donald around as well. Against the Buccs he lined up a few times over the right tackle. Offensive line play was way better in the 90's than it is right now. That's why I have John Randle rated higher than Aaron Donald.

@@Hopper830 He moves around yes, but seldom & the same could said about sacking the QB in today’s game-You can barely touch e’m. Randle’s era you could essentially rip the quarterbacks ahead off hit him anywhere w/o a flag. Both GREAT players but 3 DPOY awards, 8 Pro Bowls, 7 All Pros, 100 career sacks in 8 years as a DT is unmatched

@@ShadomanG Randle's era still had much better offensive line play than Donald's era. There really is no debate there. Guys today don't hold a candle to someone like Larry Allen, Will Shields or someone like Willie Roaf.

I just watched this video on September 7, 2024, and I thought I would post what I just learned yesterday. Here is a summary of his accomplishments: "Donald announced his retirement on March 15 after 10 seasons. In those 10 seasons, Donald was a three-time Defensive Player of the Year, an eight-time first-team All-Pro, a 10-time Pro Bowl selection and the 2014 Defensive Rookie of the Year.Mar 22, 2024". What I learned was that Aaron became only the second player in NFL history to be selected for the Pro Bowl in every season he played when playing at least 10 seasons. 10 seasons played, 10 Pro Bowl selections. Interestingly enough, the only other player to meet this threshold was Barry Sanders, who also played 10 seasons with 10 Pro Bowl selections.

Donald really stepped up his run game defense this year. Don't forget that he stuffed that 3rd and 1 run with one arm. ONE ARM. He was great against the run this year. That narrative is ridiculous
