My mother did this for years - and she taught elementary school, so was always believed, as little kids think that 21 sounds very old. Once I turned 21, she upped it to 30.

My daughter has claimed to be 21 for a good 19 years. She always claimed she would stop being 21 when she turned 40. She will be 40 on Dec 30th. I mentioned that to her and she immediately quipped that she will now turn 22. Her son is 22.

My folks are perpetually 35 in my head. I don't know why, lol. A coworker & I were just talking about this phenomenon last weekend & she thinks of her parents as always being a certain age also & it's not from our parents saying they're younger either. Weird, I know! Condolences, Colin. I'm so thankful you & your grandma got to have each other as long as you did. One of my great-grandmas (from NY) was 108 when she passed. She lived in 3 centuries! (1898-2006) She was one of the strongest people I've ever known. She lost her husband (my great-grandpa) & 2 of her brothers & their best friend on their fishing boat in the "Long Island Express" - the Great New England Hurricane of 1938. So she had 4 young boys to raise through the Great Depression & WWII. I'm so thankful I got to have so many grandparents & great-grandparents for so long in my life & know them well. Thinking of you both, Colin & Seth, & your families & lifting up all of you. Thank you for helping us through the tough times, too! Take good care.

Kinda makes my dad seem like a creepy pedophile type when ya put it in that context... NOW! My dad. The Jerry Lee Lewis of Allentown, PA. Technically, she's still not old enough to drive. I'm her Uber, constantly taking her to and from soccer practice. Oi. PIMA. She's not old enough to drink either, so I sneak her shots of Jameson on the sly.
