I bought 3 rules that solve that problem. It is a rule called "Lefty/righty" and no matter which way I use it it is always the correct way to be read. Love it! It has a pencil sharpener on it and a white plastic type material as a note area on the frot side to write quick figures on.

I feel you're on the same level as Norm Abram. A woodworking genius! I stumbled across your sight when I first got into wood working. I've consulted it many times when I'm stumped on how to do something. You've shown things that I hadn't considered, like the magnet on the tape measure and checking tape measures before you buy to find one with the numbers oriented for a right handed person. Right now i have five tape measures all with the numbers oriented correctly and the divisions correctly marks on the tape. THank you so much for everything you do for us lesser experienced wood workers!

I have tried many of Colin's tips and tricks over the past few years and I really appreciate the effort Colin puts into sharing them. My favorite however is the one armed drill press. It is the perfect example of less is more. For anyone that has not tried this idea, you really should give it a go.

In 2008 I was a person not caring about handcrafts at all. I had a fine walnut rack for cooling my homemade breads which was loosen and going apart. I wanted to fasten and make it good again. I made such an ugly job that even I, myself didn't like it. I began to think why I couldn't make it properly. I asked my friend Google and found a lot of woodworking articles and videos. It was 2013 and now I have a workshop at my home. I have learned a lot and that thanks to the university of KZbin and masters like Colin, thanks.

TIP: I put my Pillar drill chuck key on one of the wire version retractable badge holders that I fixed to the side, that way as soon as i''ve used it, I let it go and it retracts on its own. Its handy as I always know where it is, and its impossible to misplace as I found no matter what I put on the key itself, I still managed to misplace it somehow :) Also for my Dust extractor, I fitted a remote control switch and put sticky backed velcro on the remote, and then put opposite velcro part on every machine so no matter what machine i'm working on, I just stick the remote on the velcro patch and cant lose it. I also have a central place I put it when i'm finished so I don't have to look for it every time.

I gotta order a leftie tape measure. I am somewhat ambidextrous, but setting my rip fence on my older Delta saw (fence to the right of the blade) has caused me more aggravation than imaginable. It is VERY easy to go "8-5/8" (you think) but are actually doing 7-3/8. On the plus side, I NEVER run out of scrap lumber !!! Congrats om the 500K subscribers. Your content is always very valuable.

I have a wall of pipe clamps. I bought 4ft ant 2ft pipe threaded on both ends. A pipe coupler will make a clamp as long as you need. The short ones are handy for big glueup where you are doing groups. I leave them mostly in the 4ft but they swap out in minutes.

Collin,I really enjoy your videos, they have been a ton of help. Thank You! Colin, I have a very small shop and like every wood worker dust control is an issue. I had been using my shop Vac for dust collection on my power saw. I built a small cyclone using a Lowe's 5 gallon bucket and that kind of worked for my table saw. It still was a pest because the shop vac was always in my way and tilting the blade the Cyclone just did not work. I got the idea, if chop saws have a dust bag why not the table saw. I have a 2.5 inch opening on my saw dust chute. I bought a 2.5" rubber union, two 45 elbows and a length of pipe. At a garage sale I got 2 pillow cases for $.50 cents each. I coupled a stub of the PVC to the union and clamped the other end of the union to the discharge chute. I put 1 45 on the end a shot stub then the other 45 with about 1 foot of pipe hanging down. Using a hose clamp I clamped part of the pillow case to the pipe and closed off the rest of the opening with spring type paper clips. It has worked like a charm I would estimate I collect over 90% of the saw dust. Do not substitute a 90 degree for the 2, 45 degree elbows. The 90 makes the turn abrupt for the dust and the collection efficiency drops. By not sewing up the balance of the opening of the pillow case, emptying the case is a breeze, Turn it inside out and shake.

I have a sanding belt cleaner that I have been using for a long time at least 15 years, but I also discovered that when you are finished with silicone caulk there is quite a bit left in the tube, cut the cardboard tube near the top just abut where the plastic thing is that pushes the caulk out, pull this plastic disk out, and then remove the spout and metal end cap, set it aside for a few weeks the silicone set up, cut away the rest of the cardboard and you have a belt cleaner that works as good as the store bought ones.
