Colin Cowherd gives Brandon Aiyuk a warning if he leaves the San Francisco 49ers. The team is reportedly asking for two first-round picks and the Pittsburgh Steelers are in continuous talks to acquire the WR. Colin then looks at the QB market and discusses whether Dak Prescott should reset it. He then breaks down if the Dallas Cowboys can afford to do so.

@@ipgaming86 Dak is a good QB. Problem is people are paying the position, not the player. As a 4th rounder, the big contract he got last time could be explained away by averaging out the cost. Sure it’s $39M a year, but he was making next to nothing before, so it averaged out to like $30M for the first two deals. He was worth that at the time. He’s expecting double that and the winning isn’t at that level. As for Autumn, it depends what is important to him. Personal accolades and money? Or winning? SF might not have won the SB, but they might be the NFC representative again. He could go to the Pats and be the guy on a bad team. But you’d be hard pressed to reach the playoffs, let alone the Super Bowl again.

Actually the average NFL team annual profit is just under $140M, on billions of investment, so actual return is not exactly “100X”. If you had a business that had a million dollars of investment and it made less than 3% a year of its value (for comparison on nfl franchise averages it would be about $27,000 profit), you’d be selling that business real quick. A QB or other high end player signing for low to mid 8 figures, with no money invested (quite the opposite as the high end players likely all got a free quarter million dollar education before joining the league) is being taken “advantage of” by the rich, greedy owners? Lol. I don’t think so. If that was the case these new $200M to $300M club players in the league would be feeding that money right back into team ownership as fast as they get paid. Why aren’t they… oh yeah, because they can make more than 2.7% return on their money just about anywhere else. 😂

Growing up in detroit, i always thought the Lions Players had it made. Made millions of dollars playing a sport, the city loved the players while having 0 expectations of winning, and when they inevitably lost and were out of playoff contention by week 14 everyone blamed the coaches and owners. By the time christmas came around, they were practically done for the year. And the city loved them nonetheless. Lets be real, unless you are top 5 all time in your position, no one remembers you outside of the city you played. Get the bag and have a nice life. Championships only matter for a handful of players who will have a lasting legacy.

I think sports media often confuses what a player may want with what the fans want. They made similar arguments about Kevin Durant. Maybe it was something as simple as he didn't want to stay in the same city for 10 years. Maybe he didn't like California taxes. Similarly for Brandon, maybe he doesn't care about winning (seriously). Maybe he wants to get as much money as possible and then check out.

I agree Colin, I wouldn’t pay a player 4 times his current salary if I can replace him for cheaper and 3/4 of the same production

You're wrong about Tyreek. He already won and now is the most relevant receiver in the league due to the fact that he's putting up insane numbers with an average QB and is getting the credit he deserves as the best receiver in the league. Winning matters for QBs and no other position.

I agree with Colin about einning is the most important, but Bob Gibson did win a few World Series and won like 250 games as a pitcher.

The only thing I dislike about colin is when he does these individual monologues and just says the same thing he just said a few sentences ago but with different words. He sounds like he's doing a high school English presentation where he has to keep reiterating certain things to make his argument and drill it home to the teacher and classmates
