That being said, as a Patriots fan drafting Maye and having him sit behind Brissett for 6 - 9 months, learn the playbook, and get NFL and practice reps is exponentially more valuable than accumulating picks. Listening to this conversation, I realized something I appreciate about sports media: They didn't "have" to talk about anything other than sports, but when they do, because they didn't have to talk about it (society and politics) all the time, they're in a position to allow their thoughts to germinate instead of spewing something everyday. Like, sometimes I listen to NPR, and every once in a while they talk about sports. When they do, it's often more "balanced" than listening to... anyone else. They're not having ridiculous GOAT conversations and things like that. Likewise (and conversely) when a sports person talks about society and politics, it's feels more balanced (at least to me) because they're not beholden to that audience.🤔

The Knicks, Rangers, Giants, and Yankees feel like NYC’s teams. The Nets, Islanders, Mets, and Jets feel like Long Island’s teams. That’s the distinction a non-New Yorker makes. In the LA market, the Orange County teams (Angels and Ducks) don’t feel like “LA”.
