C A that is very common. I will start to talk with an accent after a few beers in me at the pub. It only happens if I am speaking to one of my Irish or Scottish friends, and I don`t understan why it happens because I was born here in New York, and so were my parents. But uncles and aunts always around during the holidays are from "the old country" and have brogue`s/ accents that get thicker as the night goes on. So, I am guessing that is the reason for it happening to me. Odd thing about the Irish and Scots, is that they take a long time to loosen up around you, for the most part, or the majority of them do anyway. I really don`t understand it...maybe they don`t want to be labeled as foreigners to us, and are for some reason, ashamed. I would never ask someone why he or she keeps to themselves for the most part, or with others over here making a new life for themselves.I think that if they want to tell you why this is, they will do so at an appropriate time.
@cakincaid44154 жыл бұрын
@@gregorymacdonnell7914 I think that some of us are just natural mimics. Without intending to, I have often started talking with a slight accent after only an hour or so talking to someone. I remember this happening with people from Scotland, Ireland, Romania, Israel, India and several southern accents. In my 20's, I worked a couple years for a man from Israel. He had quite a pronounced accent and, within a few months of being around him, people began asking me what country I was from.
@gregorymacdonnell79144 жыл бұрын
@@cakincaid4415 I think you make a valid point man. I do believe that some of us are much more prone to doing it than others. You and I probably have alot in common. I bet you are a musician, and I bet you have been told by family and friends that you should try acting as well. You did not enjoy school, and you question your government at many points. Am I close?

dadgad68, Agree big time. Colin doesn’t get the kudos he deserves for being a hell of a guitar player. He gets nods for 2 out of 3, song writing and singing. Some would say 2 out of 3 ain’t bad. Anyone who plays guitar recognises the skill he has. It’s pretty bloody hard to sing and play an instrument at the same time, let alone singing and playing like THAT. He is just an awesome bloke. Would love to have a beer with him.

Colin Hay has oozed talent for 40 years. For how well he does what he does, he is ridiculously overlooked by the industry. In a world of autotune, three chord "songs" and worthless drivel deceptively called 'lyrics', he is so far ahead of that nonsense it's barely a spec in the review mirror. I've watched him since 1983, and like fine wine, he just keeps getting better and better.
