Cake made the lyrics first actually, and then I changed it up a little bit. After I finished, I was like “Grrrrr this is so bad” but then when we actually sing it we feel like stuff such as “I refuse to stand by watching as the world crumbles away” and “Echoing with this hope of ours that never die” are so epic and matches so well with the song 😂 Although the first verse was a pain, the second line of the verse has an extremely weird melody and I just gave up on it 🙈
