Farmers are custodians of the land not owners. You can't dig a field up and move it, but you can dismantle and rebuild factories and shops. Therefore inheritance tax on agricultural land should be exempt. Put an annual area tax on land over 500 hectares which will affect the tax dodging businesses and reduce land prices going forward.

Based on averages, I believe it would take a farm around 20 years to generate enough money to pay off inheritance tax. Considering you can't take out loans to pay tax and you only have 6 months to pay it in, most farmers are screwed.

@@ChrisTyrer-b2r You obviously don’t watch or follow the channel. 14 income streams into the farm ( it’s called diversification) . Most of the vehicles are leased not owned. For people of lesser intellect means you budget the payments required inline with the income of the business or businesses that you have to call upon. Ie. you afford your business on projected income. It’s simple only if you have the bollocks to borrow money to purchase the land, farm ,buildings which I doubt you would have. So basically if you have a brain you can make most things work.
