I think we motorcyclists are especially attracted to the mountains and they are indeed nourishing soul food. On our trip to the Pyrenees last autumn we too came across many closed roads. One in particular we managed to get the bikes around the barrier and continue over the pass to our destination with no problems . Leaving us wondering why it was blocked in the first place?.? Thanks for the tantalising trailer of the next episode and those high dirt roads mmm.

barcelonette is also the home of the " alpe aventure motofestival". name says it all really a 3 days festival around motorcycle , travel, travel movie competition and of course a lot of brand showing their latest bikes, as you guess mostly trails and adv bikes .

I've been in Barcelonnette. North from there to Switzerland there are lots of awesome passes like Vars, d'Izoard, Galibier, Little St Bernhard and so on and on Switzerlad border Grimsel, Naufenpass, Furkapass and so on. Waiting for the next video to see where you go.

Love your approach to "road closed" signs--assume they're not really accurate and continue on. Sometimes this works--sometimes it leads to long retracing of one's trip. As an American, I'm amazed that road grades to up to 12% on roads made wide enough for truck traffic.

Your comments about the European Alps being your spiritual home certainly resonates with me; the area is indeed very special. Last time I went went over the Col de la Madeleine pass, I was in a motorhome, not quite the same experience as on a motorcycle. The area around Barcelonnette is great for hiking and skiing. I really look forward to your weekly videos, they help inspire me!

It’s not only my spiritual home but as well my real home - I was raised in the mountains part of my childhood! That’s maybe why I feel so close to all mountains that I visit. 😅 I really would like to explore this area like you did as well in winter - it looked awesome!

You are indeed very fortunate to live in such a wonderful area I enjoyed the skiing at Pra-Loup. Sadly, I have to wait 6 months before I can ski again in Australia. Did you know there are at least 6 main ski areas I Australia? The areas are much smaller than Europe but still good. Our near neighbour New Zealand also has some amazing skiing also. Keep up the great work!

During weekends, If a road is closed, I always try the road if it is really closed. In weekends, you most of the times can get through. Don’t try that on working days. I once did a tour through the Eifel. Including the stops for food etc, it was a fourteen hour day with about ten hours in the saddle. Every part of my body was in pain, my right hand changed into a claw from holding the gas-handle but it was worth it. Great surroundings where you drove. Lovely curves. Haven’t been riding for months due to COVID and the bloody weather.

@@Got2Go from Tilburg in the Netherlands through the High Fenns in Belgium to the Eifel and back again. You can see it on my KZbin channel. Only asphalt roads but there were parts in Belgium where, on the map it was called asphalt but in reality it wasn’t. Not funny on a sports tourer.

Moin Lea, da unten in der Provence und Haut Provence gibt es so viel zu sehen und zu erfahren, da kann man gerne auf Autobahnen verzichten. Ein guter Freund von mir hat in der Umgebung von Sisteron eine Motorradpension und hat mir unzählige kleine, kaum befahrene Nebensträsschen gezeigt, wunderschön.

Ja, ich weiß, ich habe schon oft viel Zeit dort verbracht. Aber wie ich in den letzten Videos erklärt habe, war unsere Reisezeit etwas kürzer als zuerst erwartet - deswegen diesmal leider nur die Stippvisite. Eben auch weil ich selbst schon so oft dort war und ich genug Zeit für die destination im nächsten Video haben wollte, die ich schon immer mal Besuchen wollte. 😉 manchmal muss man Prioritäten setzten und dann dementsprechend Autobahn fahren.
