Rode the Col D'Izoard several years ago, beautiful pass. Got to the bottom at Briancon & the rain started. Had a hotel booked in Annecy so kept going. Worst rain I have ever ridden in. Made to Annecy, soaked, boots full of water. Everything dried by morning with the help of several hair dryers, beautiful day to hit a few more passes. Such is riding in The Alps.

Thanks beautifull footage! BFs apparently also did border crossings because 60 km from Pierre Grosse where you had lunch, back in 1987 two girls witnessed one, and even ran down the stairs to meet him! (here´s the online translation from the french original: 'It was in the Alps, in Saint-Jean-de-Belleville (Savoie) , in July. I was 10 years old at the time and I remember it like it was yesterday. I was with another kid a little older than me, on the balcony of the rented house. And suddenly, both of us, we saw a creature next to the wood pile at the edge of the forest (a small road separated the rental house from the forest). We were on the second floor, we went down at full speed, and there we found ourselves in front of a species of nosy giant (1,90m approx.), with the backside of a chimpanzee. We were hardly to three meters from him! What upset me was his look, which seemed to say: "That It's amazing, isn't it? He left and disappeared into the forest. Later, my parents reminded me of a fact, that I had forgotten: at night, we heard the cries of wild animals. My parents thought it was a stray dog, but they didn't know exactly. The beast was very massive, one meter ninety, but curved. It stood neither like a man nor like a monkey, in between. It was not at all aggressive, and had a human look. It was in broad daylight, and both of us drew the beast after this incident, exactly the same way" (the pdf file with the drawing can be found on google after typing these search items "l´home sauvage alpes france"))

Guys, I am currently still on the road with very limited access to internet! Videos will come each Thursday but I will still be lost in non-wifi-country for 1-2 weeks! So I am sorry if I can’t respond to your comments like usual! Meanwhile terrible and sad things are happening in Europe in Ukraine and I thought about pausing my happy-travel-content for the next weeks. I will make a community post about the topic and want to hear your guys opinion how to handle this sad situation.

A mountain pass a day keeps the doctor away :) I am so glad I found your channel! I have done some trips to the Alps from where I live in Norway, have at least 110 different pass in my logbook and I know I haven`t seen half of them yet. Then there are all the Balcony roads and the "gorges" in between. Your travel reports are the best, I relieve some of the beautiful places when I see your films, and I get ideas and add more places to go on my physical maps, which are already full of notes and hints :) Keep up the amazing work you do, yiou give ideas and inspiration to plan more trips on two wheels. Thanks!

Lea I skied this place off piste for a month. The avalanche danger was off the chart. We were warned of any noises. Very dangerous skiing!!! Very steep with a lot of drops. You have captured the beauty of this region without all of the snow. Amazing beautiful Lady!!! Your videos go right to the soul of the beauty of these places. You capture it with grace and awe. The west side of the Alps is very green and that has a reason. Both times I was there in summer, in France next to Switzerland, it rained a lot between the very warm sunny periods. Very beautiful though. Where you were riding looks gorgeous. I always take homemade sandwiches with me in a day tour. Most of the times one with peanut butter and one with Nutella. Keeps you awake.

Amazing roads, paved or unpaved. Europe has roads that much older, as you’ve pointed out, than we have in the US. So many gravel roads get paved over, straightened out or made wider. Making it hard to ride roads like these. This being the reason for taking on the BDR’s ( Backcountry Discovery Routes). Ride safe and have fun. 🇺🇸

Saluti Roberto
