My pawpaws ostrich used to dance for all the kids like this. They were always sweet birds but his emus were assholes

Why keep these?! Unless you're raising them for food I can't understand why anyone would want to deal with a bird everyday that can an will disembowel you. Edit- I should add that ostrich tastes AMAZING. had an ostrich burger at a restaurant called fudruckers an was one of the best burgers I've had in my life!

They are for meat! While the males are dangerous (Our females are so lovely) their claws aren't sharp so there is no disemboweling going on. However, they will break bones if they manage to kick you.

Wondering if they taste like chicken eggs, a friend gave me a mixed batch of chicken and duck eggs (yard pickup roulette) and I couldn’t stand the duck eggs at all. 🙃

My friends and I tried one (was equal to almost a dozen eggs?). But there is almost no fat in the egg so cooking it in a no stick pan without oil was a mistake; too dry, It did taste similar to chicken eggs.

Low survival rate. Bacteria from the soil will enter the egg and kill the embryo. The eggs are sterilized before incubation to ensure the highest survival rates.@@KandyKoatedKrafts
