FYI, they make a liquid rust remover. You can either wipe it on or let the item soak. It dissolves the rust down to the metal . Works great on all types of metal. When the rust is removed, you can clear coat the item and it won’t rust again. I use it to remove the rust from decorative tins. You can find it in the paint department.

What great advice. I have stayed away from those tins and other items because I honestly didn’t know you could remove the rust without harming the item. Thanks so much ❤️

What a beautiful collection you have. It is wonderful to see what lady's did in times past , the care they took to make everyday items special. Coty perfume bottles, the early ones were made in France, (in those days pre 1950s) you had to travel to France to purchase french perfume. Not like now. But you probably know that. Lol Ps the glassmaker was lalique.

I love that moth! I have some of these old button hooks and files that were either missing the implement or are in very bad shape. Would you consider doing a tutorial on how to make one? I'd love to display it with my collection. Another idea for you that I have seen is to cut the tip off to where it is hollow and make a tussy mussy out of it. Thanks for your great videos.

I’ve seen the tussy mussy idea. For the moth I just cut out wings and glued them on top. Then glue a pearl at the top. For the legs I bent gold paper clips. That’s it.

The cone shaped bottle that you said was for catching tears is probably a scent bottle but is missing its metal collar and lid like the other cut scent bottle you have. You certainly have some very nice Victorian pieces. I would think a dressing vanity would be a dream any young lady would wish for. The smelling fragrance bottle might have been carried in a purse and taken out when the street aromas were overwhelming. The horses and carriages left smelly droppings. People emptied chamber pots curbside. Sanitation wasn’t so well developed. Businesses put out some harsh pollution too.
