Collecting it All - What a Complete LOTR TCG Collection Looks Like

I sat down with Eric who just completed a master set of all the sealed products in the Lord of the Rings TCG. We talk collecting, markets and where we see things heading.

As someone getting into this in 2023, … I need to keep my ambitions far more modest. It is great to see collections like this out there though.

If you plan on somekind of sealed collection I would recommend maybe just focusing on collecting all the movie blocks or a single movie block because the sealed product is starting to be on very thin availability

@@qlcrane8019 I grabbed a few Fellowship booster boxes at 145, but already they are pushing 180 now. I’m not going much further in that regard. I also live in a different country so shipping and exchange rates hurt too. But yeah, really only into playing physically too so that can be painful. Thankfully Towers block is still okay. I got some starter decks for an intro to Ents and Wargs.

I remember not ordering from hills wholesale 15 years ago because the shipping cost was more then the booster boxes (shipping was like $15). It’s crazy the price on this and many games I didn’t pull the trigger on until to late. I would love to find out the game feel and difference between the movie block and the later 2nd edition ish sets.

I understand that. Been there and also felt that. I’d say, movie block is.. just better? More refined and not rushed. Afterwards you can tell that decipher was not doing great and had less time for play testing and there were more broken cards. Still very cool art wise but could have used a little more time developing them

Yeah… I sold mine off last year for a very large sum of money and sort of regret it. Near impossible to find now.
