Hi guys. The number one problem I've seen when it comes to ALL Tesla's is their quality control. In Los Angeles, I've talked to loads of owners who've had problems with their cars. With the exception of the batteries (which are quite reliable) nearly everything seems to have an issue. I know there is a lot of pressure to meet delivery quotas but it's coming at a price. Tesla needs to take quality/reliability issues super seriously or it's gonna bite them in the ass.

Bit harsh to criticise the hand over? I thought the girl in the dealership was great. In fact I though that was a little harsh all round . To say you would swap it if somebody gave you choice after just a few hours of having it is ridiculous ? And no I'm not a fan boy or own one.

+Richard Jones It wasn't so much a criticism about the girl, but more the overall experience. When we arrived it was bedlam. Nowhere to park, nobody on reception, and then to discover the car was only partially charged, damaged and faulty. So yeah, the collection experience was not what we hoped for.

Once you've got it all sorted out to your liking and the issues sorted out, I have no doubt you'll love it. Congrats on your new car! Btw looks good in white :-)

I had a few issues with mine too when I picked it up about 10 weeks ago from West Drayton, hopefully all the issues are now sorted while I'm on holiday but will find out when I get back later in the week... I had issues with damaged headliner on the drivers B pillar, no safety kit included, damaged front bumper (has apparently been into the body shop), and small mark on the door leather. I also discovered a water leak after a couple of weeks (when we had rain) which has apparently been traced to the windscreen and has been refitted. Also found it interesting you have the auto closing charge port, I was told that wasn't going to be available for right hand drive vehicles and my facelift vehicle doesn't have it.

I also had loads of problems with my brand new 2016-2017 SP90DL, all quality related..had the car for 2 weeks and tesla have now had it in the body shop and service center for 3 weeks! not happy at all! Loads of panel and paint issues! paint issues I have been informed are due to some new environmental paint system? too many problems to list and I am sure tesla fans will all say that I should just grin and take it...but I disagree, any reputable manufacturer should ensure that cars are given a complete quality check before being handed over to a customer... Getting the car back today so fingers crossed it's all good! or I am going to ask for a replacement...note, not all issues purely cosmetic..loud rattle in dash and boot, and both rear brake lights assembly needed replacing , left mirror did not open or close! so like you said not good! very poor support from tesla Hong Kong! hope comments like this will ensure that improvements are made to quality issues, so future customers can enjoy their cars from day one!

Shocking dealership! ! New car that's curbed that's very poor.. surely they check all vehicles before hand over? you would have thought with everything going through the ipad style screen handover would take awhile. Still the car looks awesome. oh and congratulations on the baby news. ☺

After watching, once the paint is fixed and 4G arrives it will be perfect. Glad they sorted the wheel straight-away. Perfect car other than that! Would love a side-by-side comparison of paint. Give me a shout if you're heading to Northampton supercharger.

Digital Tarn I agree! Would look better without it, but manage to get a plain white plate on the front ...just! It took some moaning but Tesla agreed lol

UltimateRoadtrips it's annoying as some dealers do The license plate with GB but some don't i personally like it without GB and you shouldn't have to moan as it's a two second job to make the license plate the literally print it off and shove in between two plastic parts and slot in between two rolllers and manually wind it through

Wow, what a disaster ! I am awaiting delivery at the moment, same spec but a 90D... Hope the handover goes better than yours. I did moan at Tesla last week for lack of response to my emails and they said they were sorry but busy trying to rush cars out to meet Q3 targets, guess they rushed yours out! Look forward to following your Tesla story, still a great Brand and car though...

You are supposed to have a full charge when you pick it up. Well I did when I got my Model X last week.

Many, many years of experience of new car purchase has taught me to NEVER collect a car in the week of New Registration. In the UK, the numbering system on the licence plate indicates both the year sold and in which half of the year, so the precise age of the car is advertised for the whole world to see. In this case the car carries the numbers 66 which indicates 1st September 2016 to 28th February 2017. For those wanting the very latest registration number, New Registration Week, it always is completely manic regardless of make (ask any dealer) as the number of customers collecting their cars will always vastly outnumber the available number of car prep and handover staff. I avoid New Registration when collecting, so that I do not get caught up in the chaos and hysteria of new ownership. West Drayton are certainly not without fault, but it must be also considered that is a very small place and covers the entire London area and the sales are increasing far faster than expectation and infrastructure. I have bought a P85D and a P90DL from WD and have enjoyed the collections on quiet days when the staff had all the time in the world to help me. I do not condone the handing over of a poorly prepared car, but it is a touch naive to complain about the service levels if you have organised collecting your car in New Reg Week.

That's sad. When you pay such a lot of money for a car you expect it to be faultless. It seems that Tesla's quality control leaves a lot to be desired and there's no excuse for that. Hopefully you can get your issues resolved quickly.

Thank you for sharing your experience. That isn't the way it should be for a 100k+ car i think a new car should be in nearly perfect shape and not like this. Please let also fix the rubber seal on the window at 5:01 you can see it looks kind of folded. I saw this "defect" at a lot of new Tesla S. Could you please give us an update what they did with the seal.

Sorry but i have one hint more for you. At 1:26 you can hear a noice during opening of the frunk, this nois comes form the tube for the wiperfluid it grinds on the car body that will wear off over time and possibly let the wiperfluid run out. Could you please let us know how they fixt this.
