Moondance Jam - A hidden gem of the midwest.... I've made the 1000+ mile venture from London Ontario to Walker Minnesota for Moondance Jam 6 times! An Awesome and fun venue to see bands.

@@langdonalger9219 Ed seems to have a history of remembering lyrics. I've seen him actually use a cheat sheet onstage with the lyrics written in.

Daniel Hartin it’s not uncommon for a singer to mess up lyrics while on stage. Some of them have a TelePrompTer on stage to help them. I’d probably mess up sometimes too!

This is awesome. It’s really hard to find good footage that’s professionally recorded and mixed of this lineup of the band. It actually shows how good this arrangement was! Don’t get me wrong. I don’t play favorites for certain members. But Cheney did pretty awesome for drums and I liked Joel’s take on the lead guitar! Great video!

Yeah, this is the best-sounding live arrangement I've ever heard for "Gel". I've always thought that Cheney's drumming sounded great with the band, but for some reason never thought of looking for live footage with him. This is great.

One of the first times I've ever seen footage of this lineup playing live. I've got to say, they sound fantastic. As much as I like and respect all the other members not present here, I think that the Rabbit album has an almost uniquely tight band sound, and it really translates well in this performance. "Gel" especially.

The band changed when Ed decided to fire Joel. Bad move
@MichaelMyers-pj2uk2 жыл бұрын
Ed never fired him, he wanted to move on and do solo projects. Also the band is just the same as they were !

@@MichaelMyers-pj2uk actually, Joel laid out exactly what happened in a facebook post soon after he was removed from the band. He said the band’s management told him that he was out of the band. Ed released a statement saying that Joel was moving on to do solo projects, but Joel said that was not true. He was completely caught off guard. But, time heals everything, and my love for the band overrides everything else. Jesse is a fine guitarist
@MichaelMyers-pj2uk2 жыл бұрын
@@philjones8609 I wonder if there’s something that went on behind the scenes, I listened to a podcast where Ed claimed he fired the initial two which I’m assuming was Shane and Ross, It’s hard to be sure cause Ed never mentions them by name. And he said he fired the other one cause he “tried to take credit for his work” but I thought he was referring to someone else. I wonder if maybe one of them was Ross
@philjones86092 жыл бұрын
@@MichaelMyers-pj2uk so, here’s what I know: Ross Childress was the original lead guitarist, and it was his riffs and style of playing that gave Collective Soul its distinctive sound that carried over into Joel and Jesse’s playing. But, word is Ross was kicked out of the band because he allegedly had an affair with Ed’s wife. Ouch. As far as Joel’s situation is concerned, following the 2012 tour, he is notified in a phone call from the band’s management , that Ed wanted to make a change in the band and was going to bring in a new guitar player. That’s pretty crappy to do it that way. Ed did several interviews after that and said that Joel was going to go out and pursue other musical opportunities, to which Joel said was simply a lie. There has been a lot of speculation about what REALLY happened to make Ed fire Joel, but nothing definite. Let me know if this was helpful!

@@MichaelMyers-pj2uk I apologize, sir! I just realized that you were asking about Shane Evans and Ross Childress. I think SE was battling an addiction, which he talked about in an interview with Creative Loafing ( I think?) Ross was for my original comment.
