I love seeing this song still appreciated and loved so many years later. Collective Soul is an amazing band and this video in particular gets me every time, as does the song...so evocative.

I always think of 9/11 with this song. After our moment of silence the station played this song. I just broke into tears.

Georgia boys kicking it! This band from Stockbridge, Georgia, had some really good songs! They had an excellent concert on DVD with the Atlanta Youth Orchestra (I believe) that was fantastic! One of the best concert DVD's that I've ever seen. Thanks for reviewing them!

You don't know what bad feels like until you feel good; thank you for the music and to the person who requested Collective Soul. Sometimes, we all feel comfortably numb to the thing that you can't control. Now New York is twice as bad. Excellent commentary and analysis.

…..Collective Soul still touring ! Seen them last summer at a small theatre in Beverly Mass. this song brought the house down !! Everybody singing as one ❤ Ed Roland (vocalist) just stood there as the crowd sang 🙏🏻his brother Dean Roland plays rhythm guitar. Band formed in 1992 out of Stockbridge Georgia.

Song is deep, Billy Joel's You're only human (second wind) is even deeper. And... it's the song I credit with saving my life. Good to be alive today.

Great song by a great band. I've seen them live a few times and they always deliver. You might know some of their bigger hits like Shine, Gel, December, Heavy and many others. Ed Eoland really songs this song with so much emotion. I can see this on the edge connecting with that. This is a song I enjoy singing myself.

A homeless woman unseen by the masses finally gives up and while walking away, snuffs out life that's simply in the wrong place at the wrong time, having fought through concrete to survive. A hungry dog is about to receive kindness and compassion from a child, only to be yanked away by her oblivious father, leaving them both hungry for what could have been a precious moment in time. There isn't 30 seconds of allegory in a music video that crushes me again and again with every viewing as this art does. Devastating and ultimately life affirming. Genius.

Man, it reminds me of a moment recently when I passed an older lady, clearly looking lost, on the side of the road. As I was passing I thought "surely someone will stop and help her". I kept driving, staring in my review to see no one stopping. Everyone was driving by just like me. I stopped down the road and though "Man, I'm waiting for others to do what I could". I stopped and turned around and asked if she needed help. Turns out she didn't speak English, but could just say "Hospital". I said the name of the nearest hospital and she nodded in excitement! Even though we couldn't communicate, once I got her to the hospital she was so thrilled and it made me so happy to have been able to be the person that helped her get where she was going. An awakening moment that we shouldn't wait for others to do the things in life that we can do ourselves, especially offering help.

@@ShawnSalvadori Hey bro... thanks for sharing, and no surprise you would be that person. I have also had similar experiences with people in need, and the peace of mind that comes with stepping in to help far out ways any inconvenience. But alas...truth be told...I have also been the person that keeps going. A few months back, I was walking from the parking lot to a doctor's appointment for which I was late and saw an elderly man approaching who appeared to be in distress. I knew there were two women coming up behind me, so I pretended to not see him because...hey...I'm covered...right? One of the women ran to get help and came back with a doctor and a wheelchair. I just kept on walking. My selfishness in that moment sickened me for days, and still haunts me as I write these words. You wrote about "an awakening moment". Thankfully, if we are open to self-examination, we can learn that doing the right thing takes way less energy than making excuses.

@@AlanMitchell585 I understand. I think a lot of us have those moments that we look back on and wish we could have back to have done more or just done better. At least those experiences can help us make better decisions in the future 🙏

Collective Soul is terribly underrated. "Shine" is another uplifting song with a message. Not surprising since Ed Roland (vocals) and his brother Dean (guitar) are sons of a minister. You can see the influence of faith in a higher power.

I can't believe that people deny that God exists. Look around. We are seeing a dying world but there is a grace, a free gift offered to all of us if we just accept that our loving Father sent his son Jesus to take away our sin. Time is short all.
