This is my favorite channel on KZbin and I do my best to drive folks here daily. Your channel does more than you think for folks and the wise words at the end help

I too live in the land of ice and salt and you're right about that! Mind you it seems the newer the vehicle the faster it rusts, much better steel in older vehicles. No body will be restoring a car from the 2000's after it sits for 20+ years 😂

Rollback experience talking here. Next time carry a bottle of dishwashing liquid and water in a pray bottle. Easier clean up for sliding those locked up wheels on the deck. And when you have the back end jacked up like that put the tow vehicle in neutral and winch the tow vehicle under your load.

Dawn dishwashing liquid does a great job making a slick surface and is as easy as a water hose to clean up, also you can take a good size bar and a 3 lb hammer and hit the brake drums to free them up, just saying, I used to free semi tractors up by hitting the drums to free them

There was a JCB telehandler there that they moved early in the video. That would have lifted the truck easily. I've used sheet metal to load vehicles. Use two layers with a little grease between then and they slide easily.

Keep it a 37 farm truck. Put a flatbed on it and get it running original. Only upgrades would be vintage looking 12 volt alternator, dual master cylinder and seat belts. Modern safety glass too. The old stuff used when it was parked would give you a glass necklace back in the day. Your head would go through the glass and then the early plastic they used in the replacement glass would shrink back to its original shape which wasn't very pretty. There's something special about the sounds of those old trucks with their gear whine perhaps due to those early morning deliveries they made being the wake-up call we had to get ready for school as they drove by delivering milk, eggs, butter, cheese and other farm goods. You run out to check what they left in the box to see if the farmers wife had included something special for the kids. We didn't have supermarkets yet unless you drove into the city so those old trucks with their tire chains and mud hooks were our lifelines in the dead of winter. We only lived 2 miles from the school so we had to suit up, put on our boots and walk over two hills to get there even when it was snowing in the dead of winter so we had to get up early to be at the school on time. Best!

I loved doing that kind of stuff with my three sons. There was an auction down in Florence Colorado last summer and I told my boys I’d like to go to one more auction before I was too old. Not only did my three sons go 5 of my grandsons. and one great grandson went. We spent the whole day. We ended up buying a corvair and a bunch of Corvair parts that none of us are ever going to use. But what a day.

Getting them back on the road or their pieces to people that can use them is the best thing. Sometimes they have to wait a bit to be completed or find a use for, but you are doing them justice. Most people dont have the expertise, parts, pieces or time to get these back on the road.

Restore it to as close to original as possible. Keep it with that 1937 vibe including the engine & drivetrain if possible. To RatRod it up makes it just another old rodded truck. But to try and bring it back to road worthiness as it was when parked would be a great statement. You could use it in parades to advertise Chad’s Fab!! Hope you can somehow use the chassis, motor, drivetrain and all the body parts to keep it as original as possible.

For the 36/37 chevy that was in the farm field since the 50's, I have a few ideas: A resto-mod daily driver with a modest small block chevy to run errands, and nothing heavy duty. Second option: A fully toughed up truck with a turbo-diesel, dual side tanks, heavy axels, and a dually. And last option, chop and drop, and put a blown hemi in it, with fat tires on the back.

I think that 30's truck would make a wonderful flatbed. Make it into something that you can put to work - basically an all-purpose hauler that could even be used to go pick up other old trucks. Keep the drivetrain simple, probably even leave it 2-wheel drive. Either a diesel or gasser drivetrain would be fine, just whatever you run across to make it into a road-worthy restomod work truck.

Hey Chad . For the future vehicle collections, may i suggest that you have two of those Trolley Jacks and sone timber posts so that you can jack the vehicle up to clear the trailer height and back up and winch at rhe same time ,reposition the jacks when your halfway there . Secondly how about making some sturdy wheel dollys with those larger wheels like on the jack ? Thirdly, liquid soap is probably a better choice for making wheels slip or obtain some of them wedges that tow truck operators use , especially dor tilt deck retrievals You got it done eventually 😊

Merry Christmas, to all of the Carter Clan, I hope its a blessed season! Nice saves, those trucks will be able to continue their stories... As to the red on that '37, what I've found on lots of projects are what my dad had me prime stuff for weather (or underground, fuel tanks, lol!), red lead paint. It was used as a primer for lots of tractors & implements, even found it on big trucks down to yard furniture. Don't think you could even find it after about the mid 70's, except in farm barns, & our garage (dad was a builder, graduated in '29!)... Great entertainment, & family outings! Thanx !
