The other slight benefit is that "if" everyone waits until last minute, it will keep the price down as opposed to a weeks worth of placeholder bidding.

I voted for the Attack Trak as well. Couldn't have cared less about the Snake Lair. Scalping is a problem, BUT, if someone pays for it, that's their problem. Hasbro could do better, and I have suggested how they could many times. They just don't want to change. Why? I have no idea, as my suggestion solved most if not all of their problems.

Its our fault for paying resale prices. Someone pays a high price than all the rest expect the same price😅. But nobody is forcing anyone to buy.

Maybe not in every instance, and they are getting smarter about it - see the Transformers reissues they've been doing. But Hasbro definitely will leave money on the table

One thing to do to counter snipping on eBay is to simply put your highest bid and walk away. Regardless of where the bid is at if a sniper only bids $1 over the current bid but your highest is $15 over you still end up winning. Decide what’s the most your willing to pay for said item and set on it.

Worst issue I have heard is an Auction where the Seller gets his friends to keep uping the Bid. Even if the friend Bids 1 Bid too high the Seller can still Offer the Last Bid to the real Buyer. Nasty stuff.

Vintage joes are miserable to hunt down on ebay. If you want one with good paint and no cracks(which a lot of sellers will try to hide), you're paying a high price. Also, there's the question of what is your time worth. If I can pay extra and find something in a day vs. spending every day looking through listings for a good deal, I'm paying the extra

Funny you used Shipwreck as an example cause I just pieced one together with accessories for about $45. So it is possible to get cheaper if you are willing to take the time to hunt a little.

Well ,amazon just canceled a preorder i had and kept moving back the release date so i had to get it on ebay for maybe $11 more shipped and i can live with that . Yea i see a lot of the stuff you talk about on ebay since most of my collection comes from there but it only works if you fall for it . One good thing about toys is i dont have to buy them .

The only vintage stuff I have is from Macross and some Robotech items. I'll never get into vintage for other stuff. I seriously can't imagine dropping hella money for older toys anymore. Even with Transformers, I just buy the occasional reissue of vintage stuff. I'll stick to newer stuff where even if I miss out on a preorder, there's still a chance I can get it once it releases and there's more available. I don't see myself getting much from Hasbro anymore except the occasional G1 Transformer or GI Joe figure so hopefully the ones I really want won't become hard to get exclusives.

I could easily add 2 hours to this topic. The worst thing is how 1 seller jacks the price up & then every other seller copies them. When you look at the listings all the BINs are the same exact price. And if you go to the flea market hoping to get a good deal you can't because all the sellers copy the online prices. They all basically hold the items hostage. And there are the "hoarders". What happens when you combine somebody who has way too much money + a hoarder + a toy collector? I'm pretty sure we can't find a lot of the stuff in stores for retail price because of all the hoarders. And then there are toy hunters who hit the stores almost every day & buy up everything. For example, they will buy up all the Star Wars Micro Galaxy Squadron *Rares & Chases* & they don't even collect that line.

The VAMP was back up on BBTS for a while on Friday. I wondering if they did a short run of the VAMP because the non-exclusvie Stinger was on the production line at the same time. They'll probably do a few more stealth restocks before we get the Tiger Sting, Dreadnok Stinger, VAMP Mk 2, and so on. Also, the Stinger is more iconic than the VAMP.

This is exactly why I don’t do auctions for anything. When I first got serious about collecting in early 2000s, I got burned on eBay. It was for g1 blue streak and g2 Jazz. After that, I’ve never done that type of auction again

It's not about the toys anymore. It's all about jacking the prices up as high as possible as fast as possible. Or it's about collectors getting bored with what they have after a short amount of time & then jacking the prices up as high as possible as fast as possible. It's not even a fun hobby anymore.

And it ain't just G.I.★Joe (Classified or otherwise), it's ERRYWHURR. Transformers, Power Rangers, Star Wars, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, videogames, Masters of the Universe, *everybloodywhere*. 7:29 Okay. Guilty as charged to an extent. It's how I got my first Nintendo DS & Sony PSP, along with my wife's first DS & PSP (all Japanese models by virtue of colors that the US didn't get). Gave up on that tactic (it IS pretty scummy anyway) after I got bid sniped on a nice set of Japanese Segasaturn games I really wanted. I've been locked on the "buy it now" path ever since, screw tryna bid. 12:31 ...did they ever even do the van type Attack Trak?? I know they had the Skysled front ended one (the 80s toy was incorrectly cast in red instead of light blue with blue treaded wheels instead of red, I used to have that and cracked jokes on it because it looked like Orko dumped paint on it and hated that you couldn't detach the front end as a Skysled)...

The only real way to fight scalpers without any major regulatory overhaul to the whole online auction system is for companies to stop pushing limited exclusive BS and just do waves of releases/re-releases and let it be known ahead of time to minimize scalper hoarding, lest they burn threw their own bank account at high risk of failing to recover their losses, let alone make any profit.

Losing to snipers is one thing. Letting a sniper feed into your fomo and end up waaaaay overpaying for something only to see the same item up again a week or two later for less is worse. There's often more going on than just getting outbid. There are sellers and buyers alike who manipulate and squeeze the system. You just gotta be firm on what you're initially willing to pay and stick to it. If you get sniped, shrugged it off and walk away, wait and hope it goes up again.
