I wanna say for people who just like hot wheels like me. Collect what you like, not what will be valuable. I think it should be obvious but seriously you dont have to do anything except collect to be a collector. the resell value simply doesn't matter if you just like it. None of my hotwheels are anything above the mainline ones, but i love every single one of them just because it gives me joy collecting them. Imo the better collector cars don't even look that good, so make sure to never forget to enjoy the collecting first and foremost^^

Collected hot wheels from 99-03 just collecting mainlines and TH and left the hobby. Started again 2 years ago and it was a different world I got turned on to. Meeting the right collectors that I call friends now, I am into the RLC and convention pieces. Hot wheels has gotten so big that within the 2 years I have so many cars that go for pretty good money. Alot of which I get out at stores or when the RLC drops a new car. I'm not a reseller so for me I love the collecting aspect of it. Enjoy your cars and have respect for the hobby. It's awesome.
@lwjl88932 жыл бұрын
Hotwheels has changed a lot since then. Nowadays there is more resellers than collectors. Which is a good thing since it is driving up the prices and also making the hobby more desirable as it is harder to find cars at the store and the bots that compete online. The scarcity has definitely attributed to the prices.

I recently heard that American retail outlet Kroegrer have produced exclusive Hotheels cars that are even rarer than Super treasure hunts. These cars in question are standard mainlines but what makes them so sought after and collectable are the backing cards they are on themselves which are in black and white with the idea that you colour them in yourself. These are ones you definitely want to keep in their packaging if you are fortunate enough to obtain them.

And thats what i did . I wonder where they ended up. It tore my heart out when they were stole from me. Also stolen were my vinyl albums . just over 9000 albums. That hurt more than the Hot Wheels. Years later i did start over , but will never recover from the past. I am at around 1500 now with rare cars found at different locations around the country. Another tip on value of cars: don't trust eBay for values all the time. Some listings aren't what they seem and are just there to hype things up and makes things worse. Sometimes, if you check sold listings on eBay, you can get a rough estimate on what your car is worth

it's sad the pallets in my area get raided, so all the goodies are well picked by the time you get there, but at least there's enough regular good stuff to go around, the other collectors idea of hunting is like shooting a baby deer right after it's born, they want to make sure no one else even sees "their" cars

Just discovered your site! I've loved Hot Wheels ever since my eldest sisters ex husband gave me his 1970s track, charging point and cars etc!

Hey Drifter, I have a hot wheel that I wonder if u can tell if its valuable. It is a '57 T-Bird not opened hot wheel, the bottom of the car says 1977 when it was created, and I posted a image of it on my community tab

as a former employee of toys r us i can tell you the key. you have to spend some money. if you want a fresh box to come out of the back on to the shelf you have to make room on said shelf for the new cars to go on. they won't let you just open up the boxes to pick out what you want and bounce. drop like 20 or 30 bucks to clear some room then ask them to bring out a box. now you have the first go at a new box with a chance at some good cars.

I collect brand names like bmw, Honda, etc. and ones that have mechanisms. Back in the days the ones with mechanisms were rare.

Oooh, okay. Makes sense. Guess I gotta pay more attention to the packaging. I just started my collection last year and pretty much all of them are mainline, I just like to collect real-life youngtimer models from 70's to 90's. Everything else is too high-level for me, for now :)

Been collecting since I was a 1 year old. Although I am not old enough to have high value cars (born 2003) I was lucky to get some from the Ultra Hots collection from 2006. Such beautiful cars in all metal, opening hoods and rubber tires. They still look good but have been through a lot of playing back when, so not in the best condition lmao

Above the redline club is the original redline cars and maybe even some vintage 70s-90s cars imo-it’s literally like collecting limited edition cars vs collecting actual vintage cars

I found 3 TH blue NSXs in WM one time. Gave 2 to good friends. The one I kept came with a factory defected front fender. Felt such a rush taking them to the register and walking out for just $3.

Im just starting to collect them, though when i was younger, im talking like 6-8 years ago, i’d get hotwheels ALL the time, i use to have a big bin with probably more than 500 cars. Like a year ago when going threw it i found some very rare hotwheels that where in terrible condition because i played with them
