I really enjoy and appreciate your approach of not including any of the chase cards and only focusing in on the base cards, often by player, without repeats. It's entertaining and educational, as well as really useful for most who has cards to see realistic cards they may have in their boxes that could reveal treasure in what might have otherwise been seen as trash.

How about one with print run numbers of sets from the junk wax era, and the PSA pop counts and gem rates. Same. I have the Shaq Rookie, along with 4 Copies of the Base from the TSC. It was the first box of cards I bought with my dad, when I was 10. Also just seen my Topps Chrome Youthquake Kobe Bryant, that has sat it a sleeve since I got it in 97. Just recently went through an old room at my dads, and we pulled 5 gigantic boxes of cards and boxed sets from the 90's, from 1990-1998, Baseball, Basketball, and Football cards, but NBA was my main hobby. Luckily the NBA had an amazing 1997 Draft Class, because along with the end or an era in Chicago, 1998 was my last year of collecting because the inserts getting more extravagant and the base cards trying to be so premium that you could get some packs that cost $5 for just 3 cards. It just made the experience no fun. Now nearly 30 years later, its becoming fun, more so for the memories it brings back.

Thanks for the awesome video. This is my favorite NBA time period. It’s a little sad to see how much some of these legends cards go for just because they were rookies during the junk wax era. Very good point about the cautionary tale. There was a point in time when Grant Hill, Anfernee Hardaway, Derrick Coleman, Chris Webber, Alonzo Mourning, and many many others cards value were through the roof
@adamrasmussen99393 жыл бұрын
I think a big part of Vince's popularity, aside from that amazing dunk competition performance, is because he played for Canada's only (surviving) NBA franchise. On top of that, he brought the Raptors a lot of legitimacy as a competitive team from the late90s-early00s, while the Grizzlies died a slow death with 28 or 29wins being that franchise's best season. It went south for Vince in T.O. over a one to two year period, and Vince was hated for a decade or more, after many fans felt he had phoned in his last season before his trade demands were met. For the past 3 or 4 years though, Toronto fans, and I'd say most Canadian basketball fans have warmed back up to him, probably helping to keep a pretty healthy demand on his cards up here.

Haven't bought cards since the 90s. I got that kobe upper deck on the right. When they started grading cards i got out of it

Ah good catch! You are totally right, I overlooked that
@ASMRPeople3 жыл бұрын
Wow, a couple of those cards could be pulled from "junk" wax or factory sets. Around 2010 I used to break a bunch of junk wax to submit cards for grading. At that time obscure was the way to go. Master player sets were popular and you just had to submit cards that were break even as a 9 or a big profit as a ten. Of course back then you could do a bulk submission for $6 a card and get them back in less than 3 months.
@collectorinvestordealer3 жыл бұрын
Ah man, I miss the days of $6 bulk and 2-3 month turnaround!

Remember opening so much of the 1992 Classic basketball to get Shaq's first card since he had an exclusive deal with Classic to start. UD had the redemption since they couldn't have him on a card just yet. those Classics were a scam, they made so much of it. Oh well, had fun as a 12 year old boy opening all those packs
@collectorinvestordealer3 жыл бұрын
I remember that too. The Classic were so mass produced and EVERYONE wanted that UD redemption
@imperfectgamer543 жыл бұрын
Classic 😂, yeah they were the most mass produced cards back then with ScoreBoard printing more cards to supply demand as needed and a shady owner.

Carter still active in the league, so I’m guessing younger collectors have pushed his prices up.

Hi Chris! ... man, thats the bug ... how to determine a players rookie with they have so many in that rookie year ... right now Im trying to figure our Klay Thompson's rookie and I think its the 2012 Panini Prizm ... but hell, its got a Gold, Green and Silver ... and I think its got a bas Panini card as well ... BTW, I think that card is so undervalued considering his injury, out of site out of mind ... I think it 4x when he comes back in 2021/22 ... POlease give you're insite :)
@collectorinvestordealer3 жыл бұрын
Yes, the Klay Thompson 2012 Prizm is his Rookie Card. All the prizm parallels (Silver, green, etc) are considered RCs as a well. He has a few other official "RC"s from 2012, Panini, Prestige, Hoops. I like your thinking... hes out of mind at the moment, could be a good chance to pick him up at a discount.
