Great to see someone else doing hockey. I don't understand the 5s other than pop manipulation. You, and we as collectors, deserve better.

Thank you for watching & for your kind words. Yes, I am mainly a hockey collector & one of the few who love grading & revealing hockey. Enjoy any of my other vids if you choose and thanks again!

I'm in Canada and collected hocjey and a little baseball since I was 7 years old. I just retired from policing and at 54 I find I missed out the last ten years or so as far as the grading prominence these days. The 70s were my start, but seeing these gradings discourages me from grading many of mine. I have a ton from hockey from mid 70s but took a break in the late 80s. Started back at it in late 90s and started back gard at it from 2000 on. I backed off again a few years ago, and now I'm not sure about investing in grading, though I understand how the market is at this time. The only shop in my city has very little stock due to supply issues and the prices are out of control....at least in my humble opinion. I am now retired and don't think I can afford to get back in at this point. I have bins that I have filled with company issued auto cards and bins of gane-used, and inserts etc...I'm thinking of selling off most of my collection, possibly most if not all. As s Flyers fan, and Yankees fan I have nice collections of both teams. Anyone with suggestions on my next move? Thanks in advance.

@@robertarnold7187well I collect vintage hockey. The best step probably is creating a list of complete sets you may have and some of the key players you may have that are loose cards that might already be graded. And then provide that list to people who are buying like possibly the guy running this channel or other channels and see if there is any interest. As an example, I would only buy vintage baseball and hockey but not some of the more modern stuff while other people might only want the modern stuff with the autos and the numbered cards and that type of stuff. But having that list is a starting point, would at least give people a general idea of what you have for sale.

I think those Cards are just awesome! All of the Gretzky Cards look really nice slabbed and I love the '82 O-pee-chee graded 7. You got back a whole bunch of cool Cards. Thanks for posting!

This is EXACTLY why I HATE PSA...!!! Some of Those Gretzky cards were horribly under graded...!!!!! the 86, 85, 88opc, 85opc, 82opc, as well as a couple others were off (a grade or 2 at times). I often fell it is up to whoever is doing the grading instead of an actual guideline. I have been seeing this for about a decade or more now. They need to all be on the same page and figure it out.!!! That being said,... there is some beautiful cards you have there..!!! :)

Nice Bossy , The 82 Gretzky 9 is great and the 79 Lafleur 8 That would be your 3 best for sure . First thing I look at for grading is centering . Unless it is a card of high value I don't send it . Or personal collection cards I just want graded . Good luck on your next submission .

Solid cards and grades you ended up with. I had a 90s Gretzky grade a 4 and I have my questions about it. Shipping in route back to me as I type this, so we'll see.

Very nice - I recently acquired a 1980 Wayne Gretzky OPC 2nd year - PSA 9 - but the back says printed by Topps. This is the first I ever seen like this. What are your thoughts on this?

This doesn't give me much confidence to send much of my vintage cards in for grading. Thanks for the post though.

Nice cards. The 85 Topps Gretzky’s top right corner looks a little dinged.

Maybe you should have tipped the people that work there some of those cards are a better score I thought

Graded cards are trash, it's too subjective and every card is graded by a different person, depending on their mood that day or if they like that team, too many variables and human error, it's ruining the hobby. Seen a few videos of guys re-cracking PSA 8s and then resending them and getting a 9 back 🤣. I don't buy them and would never send any of my cards in. But it's your money so do what makes you happy, really nice cards you got there. I collect HoF autos and Rookies

I’m also not a big fan. But it’s worth it with alot of cards. Especially vintage.
@corymac1140 Жыл бұрын
@@mikeytherock4696 ya there is a lot of money in it for sure, but that brings corruption as well. Heard of a wealthy card dealer that may have a guy or two inside working at a grading facility and he could be paying them for good grades in his cards. I just avoid it altogether, but ya there is huge money in it 💯.

PSA control the trading market and this is just speculation; but I’d like to know how much oversight control there is to ensure the graders and big card collectors are not speaking off the record to ensure certain mint 10 cards continue to remain highly valuable. It’s gotten out of hand to be honest

The Psa10 Wayne Gretzky o pee chee rookie that sold for millions is not even a 10 if you look at it. Slightly off center and whiting on the edges from the ripped wire cutting. As they say when buying a graded card, grade the card, not the given grade because the grader may have been having a bad day or was very inexperienced with grading. From what I have heard and scene on those, no psa10 should exist. After seeing and experiencing recent bad grading I am very reserved on buying any graded card without seeing it up close.

How much does it cost to have a card graded?
@bqaggie9 ай бұрын
I submitted these via a monthly vintage special, so I think the price was $12 or $14 per card.

I think you got a bad grader, too many 7s that did not look that bad. I would honestly crack all the 7s out, worth more ungraded than that grade. I had a few undergraded cards and will never use them again. I don't like how psa does not have the sub grades. I think that honesty matters in the end.

I may be ignorant, but why spend 15$ to get Topps hockey graded? They are not worth anything compared to O Pee Chee versions. Opposite for Baseball cards...Had a bunch of O Pee Chee HOF baseball cards and are worth peanuts.
@bqaggie11 ай бұрын
It was cheaper than that on the special, and I had some freebie redemptions. Plus, regardless of brand, graded Gretzky sells. Under normal circumstances, I wouldn't grade Topps hockey unless it's a Roy, Lemieux or Yzerman RC in gradeworthy condition.
