So they will meet again, maybe with not all their memories intact but you could always look at that as a good thing. I think that both of their worlds were rebooted as one. Remember the interaction between Melia and Nia in the flashback of Origin, where it was 300 days until the intersection of their worlds begins. Both of them speculate on whether it would be a new beginning or a demise that would both of their sides would fight against each other, it must mean that Origin must have rebooted both of their worlds as one to prevent any further cases of their worlds longing for one another again. Plus the way they built Origin was 2 halves so that each half would combine and then reboot the two worlds and restore it to how it once was: one world.

He should have been restored in whichever of the two separate worlds he originally came from after that anyway, just as Joran was. The scene where they're running towards each other, but no progress to getting closer. Just beautiful and simultaneously heart-breaking. Both parties making a full effort to reach each other but the end result is them remaining in place, making no progress, while the rest of the world moves on. No doubt they all wanted their days together to never end, but they also understand that it's time to say goodbye, and just walk on.

I see a lot of people wanting for it to happen, but the whole point of the ending (and the story itself) is that life doesn't stay still and keeps moving forward. It's like meeting people in real life. Friendships will last, but the day you must go a different path will come and there is nothing you can do to prevent it. In some ways its a good things because it forces you to try new things and meet new people. And just like this game, the worlds were never meant to stay merged, but I truly believe they merged for a reason. I think leaving the idea open for us player to decide if they'll meet again or not is a truly beautiful message as just like in real life, you too will have this decision. This game was truly beutiful

This ending full on had me head in hands sobbing dude I was spoiled that Noah and Mio would kiss but I had no fucking clue that the world were going to separate again, it was such a punch in the gut seeing the main cast all gunning it to eachother, but their worlds only pulling them back, the subtle details like Sena and Lanz being so close that they can just fist bump without looking, Eunie's smug face as she messes around with Taion for the last time, Taion falling to his knees and tripping as he runs, the fucking gorgeous song, all of it came together for what I can CONFIDENTLY place at the tippy top number one spot of my favorite video game endings of all time. I don't even know if I want to finish the post game content, I feel like this ending just perfectly wraps up the story. Sure, there are some lose threads, but we've got a story expansion, that I hope to God is a sequel and not a prequel. Torna, love you, but I need to know what comes after, not before in this game. Overall, incredible ending Also, elephant in the room, Rex, the absolute chad bastard himself defied all laws of JRPG women, and not only completed the rare task of bagging ONE of his potential love interests, but ALL 3 OF THEM

The ending is bittersweet but I think it fits thematically. The message of the game is about accepting change and moving on with your life, even if it means parting with those you care about. Besides, while it may be sad to see the Kevesis and Agnians separated, the post-credits scene implies that Noah will reunite with Mio despite them being on different worlds and not remembering much of their previous lives, and if Noah and Mio can be together again, so can the other characters. Lanz will reunite with Sena, Eunie will reunite with Taion, and Riku will reunite with Manana. Nia says herself that she believes "even if now, we become separated for a time, one day we'll surely get to walk hand-in-hand again." I also believe that the people of the City are either still alive or will eventually be reincarnated, as Ghondor says at 8:26 that the party members don't need to worry about them as long as they get to be reborn. I recall a different point in the game in which someone says that the people of the City are "our future," so whatever happened to them, I think it's safe to say they'll be back. The ending isn't a goodbye, but rather a "see you later."

I think the ending scene might be implying that the two worlds did somehow merge successfully in the end. If you go back to the last scene where Noah, Lanz, and Eunie are staring into the horizon you’ll notice that when the camera switches to their backs you can clearly see Mio’s flute hanging off Noah’s waist. This implies that Mio still has his flute and is possibly using it at the end which may be why it sounds like a Keves song at first. Technically this shouldn’t be possible since material from the opposite world would simply fade away as Eunie explained when Taion gave her the tea book. With all this the ending must be implying that Mio is using Noah’s flute which could only survive if the two worlds were merged in some way. I could be mistaken but the scene with the flute hanging off of Noah’s waist is the only time we actually see it when he’s not using it. It could be a scene error since it doesn’t appear any other time during the unmerging scene, but I highly doubt it is since this game like to foreshadow A LOT so I have no doubt the devs put it there for a reason. In the end this is just my theory and I could be wrong about some stuff.

When I saw Mio and Noah kiss I was like “FINALLLLY!!” All that hardship and they finally seal the deal… felt so bittersweet but I’m happy they finally got to be together even for a few minutes. feel like that diary of Mio’s is going to come into play when the DLC comes out a la Jin and Brighid in XC2 Torna. Either way I’m excited for the DLC and it’s not so sad now. We’ll see them together again I just know it. I thought that was the highlight of it all, but then seeing Poppi run out to Nia and the Monado I was DYING! I gasped hard and couldn’t believe my eyes. I thought Melia and Nia were the only call backs to the old games but they did even more and I couldn’t stop smiling.. What an amazing series. Makes me want to go back and play 1 and 2 just for the memories. Also Rex fucks. That cheeky fucker lived the dream. I mean yeah all Xenoblade protags got their wife but Rex got fucking 3 of them. When you look at the trend of dlc that has been released for the saga, it normally detracts a bit from the main characters (xc1 less so) and so I feel that while everyone wants the dlc to be the journey of how noah and the gang meet up with Mia and the gang, some more likely routes are the creation of Origin or how the first people of the city came to be. What I want it to be is Lanz, Jorran, and Eunie searching for Noah as he dissapears at the end. Maybe a cross world distortion event like the fog king but instead they learn to harness it so the world are together as one while still being separate. Because that technology could be leading into XCX. I want it, but I doubt it will happen.

It's like meeting people in real life. Friendships will last, but the day you must go a different path will come and there is nothing you can do to prevent it. In some ways its a good things because it forces you to try new things and meet new people. And just like this game, the worlds were never meant to stay merged, but I truly believe they merged for a reason. I think leaving the idea open for us player to decide if they'll meet again or not is a truly beautiful message as just like in real life, you too will have this decision. One of the DLC is said to be at least the size of TTGC. So, probably all of the above is possible. They should probably explain how blades can have children (and are probably mortals) now, at the very least with a sentence or two in one of the DLC for sure. Because that's the only reason I could think of that would explain why Agnian genetics are so much more diverse compared to xc2 (blades carried genetics information from the original Earth before Klaus destroyed it, so their genes being added to the genepool would explain all races that weren't in xc2).

So during that event Mobious (I still trying to understand what the hell he is) was able to use Nia and Melia's creation to create a sort of infinite time loop to keep feeding off the lifeforms. When he was killed and the worlds spilt, it restarted time to flow in the current time.

I love how each Xenoblade game has a distinct theme, xc1 was forgiveness, xc2 was hope, and in Xenoblade 3 those main themes are present but they are overshadowed by a far more heartwrenching one, grief. Grief over death, grief over not having a place in the world, grief over being separated of your loved ones. But in the end grief never goes away, it is a burden, grief is the weight of life, the only option is to accept it in you and then walk on without regrets. In the end Klaus got what he wanted, a new world, a new place, or places for humanity to thrive and not commit the same mistakes. But mistakes are human, but it is also human to acknowledge them and to mend them in order to build a better future. And one of the biggest mistakes a person can make is to live a life guided by regret and grief.

Just beat the game and damn the ending was amazing. I think I had the wrong expectations going into this game tho and it sadly dampened it for me. Or maybe Nintendo marketed it wrong. It's really barely a tale tying 1 and 2 together, I was expecting more of that and there's very little in the game. Melia, Nia, Sword, Uraya, and the very end is really all there is. It's really cool that when Taion check at the time 14:46 , it was around 11:45-46, and when it came to final scene after the credit, which the clock moves again to 12:00, the process was about 13-15 mins, which roughly equals to the time from 14:46 to 28:05. Snuff me man… I cried way too hard. I had the full on ugly face being rubbed with both hands at the same time. The moment when I realized that they’re leaving each other and I might not se what comes next just destroyed me. Like at least with 1 and 2 I could feel happy knowing that the characters would have each other, but man I was not ready for this to be the bittersweet ending. And then I started screaming in happiness when I saw the Monado REX+ and Poppi. Then I went immediately back to crying at the running scene. I will never forget Xenoblade, it is definitively my favorite series. Thank you, Monolith.

Xenoblade 1: Shulk gets Fiora Xenoblade 2: Rex gets Pyra and Mythra...and apparently Nia too. Xenoblade 3: All four perfect couples get broken up. At the very start of the game Noah and the others are at the festival, but time stops and you can see the world of Xenoblade 2 is about to collide with the world of Xenoblade 1. So pretty much it's just a continuation from that moment. Z had frozen time while both planets were collided and Noah and Mio broke that cycle. Hope I explained that properly.

I never really cried to any piece of media until this ending happened, these characters meant so much to me, and when they started running towards each other my heart was broken, but it’s something we must accept, goodbyes can’t be forever, as hard as they are. Monolith just gave me such a perfect trilogy filled with lovable characters, amazing stories and extremely well done music. But the best aspect of them, is how they teach us about who we are. I think the worlds are going to merge because they started up origin in the way that it was initially intended to work. The goal of origin was to merge the two worlds safely but Z prevented that, so the only way for it to work was to reset Z's influence and merge the worlds that way. If it hadn't, then both worlds would have been destroyed or at least still messed up with the 10 year life cycle thing. I think Mio's flute in the ending is confirmation of the two worlds merging again because Nia and Melia said that they couldn't prevent it so they had to create origin; and XC2 ending kind of left it open to interpretation with pyra and mythra probably having or not having their memories back but it still went with them remembering based off of clues the authors gave showing that they remembered. I'm pretty sure that Zanza and Klaus were the only ones preventing the two worlds from colliding and when they were gone, there was nothing stopping it from happening

As a long time Xenoblade fan seeing so much nostalgia from both previous games and then the separation of the characters and the final kiss... God, I don't even know where to start, what an emotional rollercoaster this last cutscene was, this is easily one of the best endings I've seen in my life and it's also my favorite group of main characters, I love every single one of them, and seeing them getting split up completely destroyed me

Nia says that the world's will surely get to walk hand in hand again one day. Mio and Noah both promised they'd find each other one day. After the credits and this video ends, Mio narrates and says she's slowly forgetting Noah, but she promises she won't until they meet again. I think they'll meet again, even if we don't get to see it. But plz Monolith let us see it in the DLC

@prettyonice I think that Noah as a kid might have been some sort of alternate reality. Mio had a reality where she was still older and remembered (though she was forgetting) Noah and the others and their adventures, so it's likely Noah did too. Alternatively, when Noah hear his and Mio's flutes as a young kid he could have gone to the flute sound and maybe returned to the world of Aionios, or maybe just regained his memories. My money's on alternate reality, though. It's not really explained. There is still hope tho, I think.

From the museum in the City, it seems like the original cast of both games got sucked into the Keves/Agnus factions. Yet it seems like Shulk, Rex, and Dunban all managed to leave the system and founded the first group of Ouroborus. Rex technically wasn’t one of the ouroborus but his student was. So even though they died eventually, they were probably still out there in the reincarnation system until the worlds merged again

This ending is brilliant, sad, wholesome, hopeful… if the upcoming DLC is about the founders, I will babyrage 😡 Please give us a sequel Story about these unique characters, Monolith 🙏

One of the best games ever made, a piece of high art of the utmost caliber, that provided a deeply meaningful message that is essential for humanity to understand if we are to move on from repeating history: That clinging to the now, by way of hedonistically indulging in momentary pleasure and staying within the bound of comforting familiarity, or by wanting things to remain the same at the expense of the future, keeps us and our descendants locked in unending conflict. If we want to move forward as a species we need to accept the sadness of separation, for all the people, habits and things we cling to, and embrace the future in the hopes of it resulting in something better.

I can understand why people were dissatisfied with this ending but I love it more than anything. These characters and their chemistry are so strong that I was destroyed when it had to end. But as they say, it isn’t the end. Whether through the memories that will shape their future selves, or by the potential for a heartfelt reunion, they will march onwards all the same. Every Xenoblade game carries this message and it’s ever so strong in this game. A perfect ending to my favourite video game trilogy ever.

Ha! 29:17 And reality had the audacity to tell Noah that he can't be his own Ark and pop-by and visit Princess Mio whenever he damned well wants. Rex gets ALL the girls (poor sap...), Shulk gets Melia to hold his Blade, and Noah ignores the laws of space and time to get his girl.
