They have actually really improved and includes even girls. I have been doing training to be apart of it and they do not tolerate any racism or homiphobia. If you've seen or experienced in your area I can understand why you came to that conclusion But the organization as a whole does not tolerate it and the leaders and parents are supposed to report any instances that those kind of things occur.

Professional needle-wielder here! (phlebotomist) It sounds like your IV catheter with Flynn didn't have great placement and irritated tissues and nerves more than it should. For the twins, you can request that they try to place it in your forearm instead of your hand. It's generally more comfortable there. If it ends up in your hand anyway, you can ask for them to place a numbing agent to reduce pain and discomfort. And if it really hurts still, you can ask they move it somewhere else after the birth. Every IV is different and you have the right to request these things if it's causing pain or discomfort. You've got this mama, you're doing so good 💜

RN here. The taped-up IV on your hand is what we call a “saline lock”. Meaning they keep it in your hand if you need it as an emergency, and SALINE SOLUTION is used to flush the line and keep it open. The two major locks used are “saline locks” and “heparin locks”. They’re used for different things. The heparin lock (‘hep lock” is usually flushed with heparin (strong blood-thinner). The saline lock you get on your hand hurts because human hands are pretty bony. So the ‘cannula’ of the IV rests in the vein, which unfortunately can hurt. I say CANNULA because when an IV is placed, the needle doesn’t stay in your arm. Rather, a tiny plastic tube stays in the vein. It’s less painful by a long-shot. Saline locks are usually in the hands because other IV sites (arms etc) make it tricky for the patient to move easily. The IV cannula in the hand is far easier for the patient to move, eat, etc. The first 24 hours after birth are when most problems arise-so this enables medical personnel to access an existing IV site. Hope this helps!

I had a hand IV with my first born and it was the worst! I felt like I couldn’t move my hand or wrist at all. Then with my second born they gave me my IV in the middle of my lower arm and it was amazing! I could move freely without any pain. If I ever have to have another IV I will definitely ask for it in that same spot.

Tortilla talk question: I notice Flynn has been loving bugs lately almost like how he was when he first discovered cars! I’m wondering if he is still super obsessed with everything cars or if he is gravitating towards new hobbies now? I’m assuming he’s a cars guy for life but just curious! Not a question but I just wanted to say you’re phenomenal. You make sure everyone feels included. On the last video when you were talking about baby items and advice that people give you, you said “if you’re pregnant, about to get pregnant or want to get pregnant someday” at 3:13, you made me feel so included. Usually people only ever say if you're pregnant or trying to get pregnant. But I think that's wonderful you included people who do want to get pregnant eventually! Literally made me almost cry. I'd love to be pregnant but the timing just isn't right yet! Just wanted to say thank you 😊

As an L&D nurse, I loathe putting IVs in people's hands. I always go for the arm - better veins, out of the way during pushing, and WAY LESS PAINFUL. So sorry that added to your traumatic delivery experience😔

Not a question but I just wanted to tell you your videos have been what's keeping me going over the past 3 days. 3 nights ago I was hospitalised due to mental health issues. I wasn't able to watch ur videos until tonight due to not having any headphones, but tonight I binged all the videos I missed and it's making the time go by a little faster. We didn’t have a name decided ahead of time, but even if we had we still weren’t going to tell anyone because we didn’t want anything set in stone. And I’m so glad we did that because once he was here, none of the names we had thought of fit him. We ended up naming him a name that neither of us had thought of when I was pregnant and it fits I’m perfectly!

I know she has answered a question similar to this is a previous vlog. She basically said that she is planning on letting him to go school, but will work with whatever he needs and is not opposed to homeschooling if that’s what works best for him :)

When you give birth request the IV to be on the side of your wrist instead. That’s what I had and it made moving my hand and holding my baby easy. And the spot wasn’t sore after it was taken out!

Yea i also passed on birthing classes. I just dont find online learning in zoom classes as effective for me. Also ive never had a baby but I dealt endometriosis for years and i used to always ask women who also had endo which was worse. Most women i asked said their worst endo cramps felt similar to contractions; except in labour they offer you painkillers stronger than tylenol unlike endo and you get a cute baby at the end 😂. So im trying to use that in my mind as encouragement since my due date is only 4 weeks away.

twins are much more likely to have complications, they tend to come early, and are generallym more high risk etc, so its REALLY not typically reccomended you do a homebirth
