Yes, it is more expensive but remember this: private colleges almost always offer more money especially in grants, not necessarily just scholarships, so they end up being cheaper sometimes. Omg congrats girl!! I do know how hard some of the decision making can be with money though. When I was choosing a college last year I had to take several schools off my list that I had been accepted to because of financial reasons as well. University of Washington was one of my dream schools, but I would've been in so much debt if I went. It broke my heart 😞 I would have been in even more broke if I had gone to any of the UCs (enough debt to buy a house). I wound up going to a public university that was originally a safety but I realize now that it's actually a really good school. I just had (and still have) really high standards for myself so it didn't feel like I had succeeded academically. It would have been dumb for me to go anywhere else though because my current school and the one other I had as my last option basically offered me full rides, which I'm extremely grateful for. Something I try to remind myself of that might be helpful for others is that your college career is not entirely defined by where you are. It's about how you choose to spend your time there. Be proactive and take advantage of every opportunity you can!! Good luck at Pepperdine and have fun :))

I live in Europe and, even tough we are aware of the basis of American university selection process, it still shocks me every time I’m faced with the amount of money you have to pay for school fees, specially for a simply bachelor. Public unis in my country have fees around 90/100 dollars per month (=3000/4000 dollars for the course) and they can’t legally increase it more than that. Even in private unis, the monthly amount is like 300/400 dollars (=9000 dollars for the course), but you can easily get into a public one and uni aid is accessible. Ofc that, in the masters, schools take advantage of putting the amount they want but still, the most expensive master here is 12000 dollars but the uni is on world top 50, because some master fees can be equivalent to the bachelor ones! Seriously, it makes me so sad to see you give up on some schools because of this...
@hannahharris81444 жыл бұрын
Hi!! So I was kind of in the same situation as you. I could have either chosen Cal Poly SLO and get the college experience by moving away from home, new environment, close to the beach, etc. orrrrr I could have chosen UC Davis, which was still a great school but just much closer to my home town and (I thought) would not really offer me as much of the "away from home college experience". So, what happened was I moved to Cal Poly and did not fit in AT ALL. Like I was so uncomfortable since day 1 there just with literally everything -- the classes, the location, the people. After my first year, I ended up transferring back to UC Davis and it has been an amazing experience since :) so I would just say to keep your heart positioned towards God at all times during your college experience. In doing that, you'll know exactly where you're supposed to be :) a huge congratulations to you for attending Pepperdine!!

When she said she wasn't going yo Chapman my heart dropped that's LITERALLY my dream school since I found out about it in 8th grade and I'm in 10th grade now it's just such a good school I hope I get into when I'm of age

Melanie! I was wondering if other people felt the same about the weather as I do. I really find myself down when it's overcast, which it almost always is. I don't believe it is good for my mental health. I plan on leaving Washington once I'm 18 or so and getting to someplace warm and sunny. Congrats and good luck in all your future endeavors!
