I’m not sure if they’re offering lofts this year but I’d say you can totally buy it later down through line if you don’t have enough space for everything

hi!! I just got accepted into western, it’s my second choice. How is the social scene? Do you find it easy to make friends? How’s the party/social events scene?

Slay congrats! The social scene is def what you make out of it I think. There is not Greek life or a football team so it is different in that way. I would say I’ve found it pretty easy to make friends through having an on campus job, clubs, living on campus my first year, and meeting people in classes! Like Seattle, bham has a good music scene and there are lots of house shows which are fun! I’ve found that people can be a little shy but once you start talking to people they’re welcoming and nice! Happy to talk more over DM’s!

What's the normal weather like there during the school year? Ohh and I have bad driving anxiety so is there other accessible ways to get around? Like walking or biking?

the weather changes with the season, but it is never that extreme. and yes, there are city busses, lots of people bike, and you can walk

There's a lot to it! Is there anything specific you're interested in knowing about? The social enviroment is pretty chill and it can be a bit hard to meet people if you are not in a club or sport. There is a club for anything you want to be apart of! As a queer individual I feel very safe on campus and in downtown Bellingham. Western offers really good healthcare for their students which is great. On campus living is spendy but worth it in my opinion. The academics are what you want them to be and the professors are really great. Bellingham is really pretty and there is a lot of stuff to do outdoors!

@@kelp9742 Hey! I'm an incoming freshman and also trans - I am getting a single but I applied to live in the pride community in Alma Clark Glass. If you go to the housing portal and fill out the application, you can set your gender to neutral - if you do this you will only be paired with other people who set their gender to neutral. If living in the Pride community also I think that's a great way to ensure you'll be living with another queer person :)

No worries! I’m also trans (I’m non binary) and I met my roomate (who is very accepting) online so we applied to live together and that’s how it worked for me. When you fill out your roomate application and profile you can write about yourself and say that it is very important to have an accepting roomate. You can choose a roomate or you can get a random selection, which might be a bit harder because you won’t know the person

Before every quarter begins you will use class finder to pick out your classes. If you are a freshman you will most likely meet with a student advisor to help you through this process. I recommend looking before hand and make a super long list of all the classes you are interested in. Those can be found on Western’s website (class catalog)
