My question is how long is the wait time before I get my contract from.VA .Hope someone can advice. Thanks

I am baffled. If my child was granted work study, why is she having to pay back during tax times? She has a small side job to help her out but she earned less than $13K. She was getting all of the taxes back until work study was put in. That is frustrating and wrong. Just does not seem worth it to get funding and have to pay it back.
@jsrhedgehog9981 Жыл бұрын
I'm confused. Let's say you get offered $3,000 for one semester in work study. If you do the math ($3000÷ 4 months ÷ 4 weeks in a month ÷ 20 hours a week...), you only get paid $9.36 per hour, assuming you can only work the required hours. Other than the possibility of having free time for homework, the convenience of it being on campus, and not having to commute, why is this better than simply taking a $12/hr job that allows you to to work 40 hours per week? It's borderline useless compared to a sectional payment plan UNLESS the workstudy does any sort of price matching. Otherwise, you're taking out a loan AND paying off a smaller loan, but you're doing a job that you can't entirely choose, with a chance of downtime, is part time and is only marginally better than minimum wage.

Hello, I'm an undergrad student and I was recently awarded a work study of $8,613 (per semester) to work as an english tutor at an elementary school for $25/hour at a 10-20 hour per week minimum. I fully believe I am capable of doing this and that it fits my schedule, nevertheless, I would like to ask for your opinion on this award. What course of action should I take towards this award package? Do you feel I should appeal for a grant instead (note that I already receive pell grant)?

Federal work study is money the gov gives the colleges to employee students. If the school has institutional work programs this typically means the school is paying the students from the departments budget. Federal does not count against financial aid the other does since its like any other job.
