The expanded playoff almost guarantees you'll have a team that starts slow or has a couple of hiccups end up making a run to win the whole thing. That's what a tournament sport gives us. I've seen this at the high school level, the D2 level and the 1AA level as a player and a coach......now, we're going to see this at the major college level as fans. Technically you're correct about FSU but you left out something relevant. This wasn't "you lost Travis and you're out". Not even close. After FSU lost Travis, they played 2 games. In both of those games they played extremely poor. The difference without Travis was stark. So stark they determined this wasn't the same FSU that played over the year. Not even close. THIS is why FSU was left out. Not just because Travis was gone but because they got a chance to see the team after he was out ... and how poorly they played. I still stand by the idea if Travis went down towards the end of the final game, FSU would have been in. The details matter.

Carolina had to play 3 teams that are in the playoff conversation (ole miss, alabama, clemson) multiple top 25 matchups that are still top 25 (mizzo, A&M) not to mention LSU (which we won on everything except the scoreboard without sellers) and vandy who played close games all year and beat multiple contenders. Big 10 was the second best conference this year though but it wasn’t really close with the SEC. It was wayyyyy better than the big12 and acc though they were really bad.

So we're supposed to hate the expanded playoffs cause it might let a team in that can beat a team that's ranked higher than them... the playoffs expand has made this year so much more fun and chaotic in the best way possible. I haven't watched this much videos and games I'm college football before this year probably ever. Even losing a game or 2. Teams feel like they are playing hard and even 4 or 5 lose teams have something to play for in removing someone from the playoffs. You expand the playoffs because more teams have a chance and one lose even if you can win the entire playoffs don't define your teams whole season. I think Georgia was the best team last year and would roll through each team in last years playoffs if they were in. I think games are still important and maybe more important. Miami would never had a shot in previous years with the 1 lose. Then Syracuse wouldn't have a chance to knock off Miami completely out of the playoffs. It's beautiful man. You would have terrible 3 games left with the playoffs. We get way more chances for upsets and good games with it expanding. I think it can be worked differently but I love it.

Alabama and ole miss has a higher FPI, and, SOR and the head to head wins. Plus Alabama has more ranked wins than SC and I believe ole miss and SC are tied. I said it several times before but nobody listened. Expanding the SEC was a huge mistake. Huge! SEC used to be mighty, and it dominated, because the talent was concentrated in a smaller number of teams. Expansion resulted only in the dilution of the talent, making every team weaker. After that, too many teams in the conference means too much infighting, resulting in too many conference losses per team. How are these teams supposed to recruit when they are no longer the best? SEC needs to cut some teams.

South Carolina’s resume is far and away better than Alabama’s or Ole Miss’s: •6-game win streak • 4 wins over Top 25 teams Don’t tell me head-to-head matters when: The committee ranked Alabama over Tennessee (despite Alabama losing to them). South Carolina over LSU (despite South Carolina losing to them). The numbers don’t lie: • Oklahoma went 2-6 in the SEC (avg. loss by 17.6 PPG). • Vandy went 3-5 in the SEC (avg. loss by 8.5 PPG). Welcome to the NFLification of college football. I always hope for a season that ends with Bama holding the national championship trophy, but if they did win it, it would be the most NFL thing to happen to college football. The NFL has a team in its history that finished 18-1 and is not the "best" team because a 10-6 team beat them in the Super Bowl. A record, mind you, that was not good enough to get into the playoffs for some teams depending on which division the team was in. It's where we are headed.
