Stating the obvious here, but the difference in television production quality between the older and more current games is startling.
@chawkfan943 жыл бұрын
This is actually a common misconception. Old games looked just fine live but someone using a compressed KZbin clip of a someone else's compressed KZbin clip from 2009(or earlier) makes an old clip look even worse. Further more, many old clips on KZbin have suffered from the "compression" fate, which is not helped by the fact it's hard to find the source material for these old clips as many exist only on VHS tapes. And that goes without mentioning that most things prior to the mid 2000s were MADE with tube TVs in mind which use a very different color reproduction system than modern LCDs. This is a big reason why PS1/N64 games look... Not so good on modern TV's. If you hook them back up to a Tube TV like they were made for - they really don't look that bad
@mallarysangel3 жыл бұрын
What he said ^ I really don't remember it as bad at all. The TV's were usually smaller as well, and that definitely helps. Those 19 inch TV's were common. 32, was fairly large. All those scan lines were so close to one another that it looked cleaner. There was more noise reduction back then, and it was really nice and clean when it originally aired. I'll admit the HDTV is a great improvement, especially for sports. You see more crisp detail, like in the turf, but clips like that of Vince Young, were really clean on my projection and tube TVs. - And I think, maybe, if the addition of field turf had happened earlier, those old clips would've looked even better when they originally aired. The fields themselves even look better now. Field turf is just crisp.
