A lot of my friends lost their faith. I almost lost my faith but I started reading St Thomas Aquinas's Summa Theologica, St Francis de Sales's Intro to the Devout Life, and St Therese's Story of a Soul. I followed Bible in a Year with Fr Mike. All of this helped to re-affirm my faith.

Nice going. Those three books, alongside the imitation of Christ, should be a survival guide for Catholics. A prayer book should be included in this mix too.

@cameronbailey9704 Amen. It's an edifying piece of literature. The only thing more edifying than that book, is actual prayer and scripture reading.

@@jessr1698 I would love to read St Therese and St Francis de Sales! And yeah Aquinas is great. I personally recommend St Bernard of Clairvaux's "On Loving God" and his sermons on the Song of Songs. May the Lord bless you and keep you!

I was so worried about going to college six years ago & losing my faith to the party scene. Most of my older sister's friends fell that way. Through an abundance of grace, I actually didn't find the party scene to be tempting at all. On an outgoing retreat for high school seniors, I heard a youth minister say we need to do three things: go to Mass at least one day a week besides Sunday, sign up for the first retreat at the newman center, and try to go to confession once per month. 5 years later, I found myself in the seminary. Hah! It is very possible to make it through college as an even stronger Catholic than when entering.

I immediately got involved with the Catholic Newman and Student Centers when I went to college! Through that I have gained some amazing holy friends and grew in my knowledge of my Catholic faith and relationship with Jesus.

Thank you, Father. Grew up Catholic. Went to Catholic HS and lost most of my faith. Went to secular college & grad school and lost all of my faith and became an alcoholic (6 years sober today). Age 27 found my faith again and became 20x closer to God than I'd ever been before. Still had plenty of time to make good life decisions and fix some of the bad ones, but at great cost. I don't regret the life I've lived, but things could've been a lot better if I'd never lost my faith during those adolescent years.

Good video! I went to public schools growing up and a Catholic university and I’m an active catholic. Some Catholic school acquaintances are no longer active Catholics. I just moved my daughters to a Catholic school last year vs public and one great thing is the theology classes. we also have one of the best Life Teen programs at St. Laurence. 🙏🏼 Hope they keep the faith I’m trying to teach them. 🙏🏼

Totally agree…I was so immature in college… couldn’t finish because of experimental evil things back in 1970…after getting a masters from the School of Hard Knocks, I’m back stronger than ever I believe I could to my Catholic beliefs…but the wising up was only the result of the Merciful Lord’s infinite Mercy… only reason I’m writing this…

Doors don’t open equally for everyone. What I mean is, some people have certain connections from the college, and then stick around the person they most find valuable towards their goals. That’s my honest opinion. Then there are others who live very close to college grounds, that make their entirety so much easier than others. Or you may be the sibling of a professional, and you’re in the know, or was already knowledgeable when you decided to go. All those factors come to an attention that affects others when you know they’re achieving their goals in hypothesized positive outcomes. So you say that you may be like others, as you go along through college. I’m finding this originality perspective more to the tuning of a clock than the actual chronology of everyday life. I’ve been following God for a very long time, though I’m starting to wonder if tomorrow was thought ahead of time than yesterday was left in peace.

While I don't think it would solve vocation crisis abolition of celibacy wouldn't lead to significant problems either (if done correctly). Eastern Churches (both Catholic and Orthodox) have married clergy without significant issues. Saying that we need priests who are willing to sacrifice everything is double-edged sword. Why don't we require priests to make the vow of poverty? While I don't downplay the significance of poverty the question is whether we need it from every priest (and the answer is NO). I think simmilar question should be asked about celibacy as well.
