Thank you to everyone who is a donor. My brother's donor was a almost perfect match, but my brother's body resisted and it didn't click. I never got to thank them. So thank you to all.

My daughter had hystiocytosis also, but LCH. She was diagnosed at a year old and was on chemo for a year. I'm so glad this little boy survived. This blood cancer is so rare and the symptoms can mimic other illnesses, so it's hard to detect and needs lots of testing to get the answer. My baby girl was losing weight rapidly and threw up sometimes ten times a day and her pediatrician right it was an allergy to milk. She almost starved to death until I had enough and brought her to our children's hospital and they admitted her right away.. it took them two weeks to figure out wat it was. She had a 50% chance of survival. They honestly don't even have a cure for this disease, they just have to do wat they think could work and see what happens. Hystiocytosis occurs mostly in young kids, and can come back when they're older. Usually in their teens. If it does, it will most likely be fatal. My daughter is now 5 & has been in remission since October, 2013. I'm so grateful she survived, and thank god this little boy did too!! I'm now dealing with cancer and it's terminal. I think my daughter had more strength than I do some days. Chemo is so rough and kids are so resilient. I stay strong for my kids, and I don't pout during my treatments because of my one year old could do it, so can I. And I'd any of you reading this have cancer, you can do it, too!! Be strong! ❤

i lost someone very close, very special to HLH just 10 months ago. she was only 8 years old. tried for a marrow transplant, could not find a close enough match, could not get her body ready for the transplant. 3 different rounds of chemo each week. miss her so much. last sunday was 10 months. i went on youtube that morning, saw one of her vidoes. youtube put it at the top of the list, so it would be the first one i would notice. i did not know the video was on youtube.the Cincinnati hospital she spoke about is the only one in the US that actually studies HLH. she was not able to get to cinci. although, many hospitals in the US including cinci did help her.

I kinda of had to donate bone marrow to my twin sister, she got cancer. She would have died without a donator. But the doctors could not find a perfect match. I'm her twin sister, my mom asked me if i wanted to donate. It was me either donating, or she dying. We was a match. She is fine now

it's very simple - all you have to do to potentially save someone's life is sign up and if you're a match, take a couple of days out of your life and perhaps end up a bit sore for a short while - seems pretty damn simple to me!! i'm surprised a bit though by this story (that in the US there is some seemingly private website you have to sign up for). one of the first times i donated blood here in australia i also ticked a box to confirm i am happy to be a bone marrow donor if i am ever a match, and was told this meant we go on an international database - i hope this is true and you don't have to go through country by country and individually sign yourself up. i doubt it very much because this is an australian government covered service (red cross blood bank) and they are hardly going to provide misinformation. something seems odd about this story.
