Any of you attending Loyola, if you're going into law or something that requires a poly science pre req, take Professor Danford's class in Political Theory, he graduated from Yale, He's tough as nails, his tests aren't per se easy, but you'll have a brutal and honest assessment about yourself when you deal with his class. He'll make you be honest with yourself about what type of student you are at LUC. He has a great sense of humor, it's dry, but funny, but he can also be a bit arrogant, by that I mean he doesn't really allow you to have an opinion in his class but he does do Q &A style Lecture and teaching. He isn't for the weak hearted

BS in Criminal Justice 13' LUC Alumnus here. What she is saying is pretty accurate. The Damen Cemter was freshly built as of 2013 when I graduated. It has a movie theatre inside and billiard tables in the basement lounge area. Loyola is NOT a party school at all. Most of that will happen off campus. Loyola students are mostly politically Liberal. However, it's not an activist campus. Greek life, if you're expecting Greek letter jackets, they're there, but not enough to notice. If you're expecting to see strolling and step shows that won't happen at Loyola. All of the black greek life is chartered. I was pissed about that. The school is crazy expensive, even for In state students. However, it's definitely for the more serious students. They have been steadily moving up the school tier rankings. For years, they hovered in the Tier 3 or Tier 4 range. Now they're hovering Tier 2 and Tier 3. One thing I'll say, they to find out the political view of the teacher. When you write an essay that requires a political opinion, base it on his or view and not yours. If you know you're professor is Liberal, and you're Republican don't respond with a "keep it real" Republican response say what he or she wants to hear

Hi I just got accepted into Loyola! How’s the student body, is it diverse? Are there any parties? Is there a variety of different personalities? I come from Columbia and the people there were super closed off and snarky.

You mentioned that in your freshmen year, despite living in dorms and having a meal plan, you cooked your own food? Do the dorms have a FULL kitchen on each floor or something like that?
@powpaupug3 жыл бұрын
The dorm I lived in had a full kitchen in the common area!
@kiannafraga72093 жыл бұрын
Oh okay even better! So you shared it with like four people? Is that a common set up for freshman dorms?
@powpaupug3 жыл бұрын
Kianna Fraga I shared it with the whole dorm! I believe all freshmen dorms have a common area with a full kitchen, some might even have more than one kitchen depending on the dorm!
@kiannafraga72093 жыл бұрын
Ohh okay i get it now! That makes sense. Despite sharing with so many people did you find it easy to cook when you wanted to without having to wait very long for others to finish?

hi! this was a great video- i’m considering going next year & i’m very excited!! i was just wondering, is there an advantage to taking the shuttle downtown over the L? i’m going to major in education so (from what i know) the school is downtown and i’d be going there often :) thank you!!
@powpaupug6 жыл бұрын
Grace M hi! I’m glad you enjoyed the video! So I really like the shuttle bc it’s more comfortable and convenient however wait times can be a bit longer than the L. We have a tracking system so after a few weeks you get the general times down. From what I know only the School of Communications, Business, and Law are at the Water Tower campus but don’t quote me on that haha

How is it different as transfer students
@powpaupug6 жыл бұрын
Ariana Rios-Corral great question! There’s actually a handful of transfer students that I’ve gotten to know, I’m not entirely sure if they have more requirements but I do know that in terms of credits sometimes it can get tricky and one might have to take a class to fulfill those credits.

@powpaupug5 жыл бұрын
Katherine Mazzanti hi there! Thanks for your question, if I’m being quite honest I’m not to sure what the answer to your question is in terms of additional scholarships BUT I do know that a grand majority of on campus jobs are work study! Hope that helps:)

hey! i’m a junior high school and i’m currently looking into colleges and loyola is one of my first choices. although you’re a transfer student, did you take any standardized tests like the ACT or SAT? if so, what were your scores? i love your videos btw, they’re very helpful 💕

I’m going to Loyola this fall and I got a 1370 on my SAT, which is a 29 on the ACT. Don’t know if that helps lol but that’s my experience ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Hey! Thanks for commenting and watching! So I’m not a transfer student haha so I did take both SAT AND ACT, people attending loyola I know have scores between 1100-1400. From what I know lots of different elements play into your application. Let me know if you have more questions!

Do you think majoring in Comm Studies is wise if I plan to work in PR? I just think by choosing Comm Studies in LUC it gives me a wider range of work field if I change my mind. What do you think??? pls help lol
@powpaupug4 жыл бұрын
Sofia Chamat I would say you have a lot of flexibility within the ad/pr major and can always take additional comm classes if needed? It comes down to what you’re more interested I would say. Comm studies is more about theory and ad/pr is more “hands-on”

Which freshmen dorm would you recommend?
@powpaupug6 жыл бұрын
S Bramhall great question! I think it really depends on what you’re looking for...for me I loved living in Mertz bc it was very social and I lived very close to all my friends but each dorm has it’s own perks!!
@frankeezies5 жыл бұрын
Not to be negative but mertz is actually horrendous. But, it's the cheapest freshman dorm, so you get what you pay for really. The only three elevators (for 800 people and 19 floors btw) keep breaking and at one point all three were down. It's just a mess, I wouldn't recommend living there unless you can't afford to live in the other dorms (which is why I got stuck at mertz). De nobili and Simpson are nice. This is just my opinion though, I'm sure some people, like Paulina, enjoyed living there.
@powpaupug5 жыл бұрын
Sabrina T. I actually did not want to live in mertz but it being the biggest freshman dorm lots of people get put in Mertz bc lack of space in other dorms. Of course there are nicer ones but overall my experience wasn’t too bad just with occasional broken elevators.

@doloresruiz64825 жыл бұрын
The story of Loyola University is that there was a priest and a priest woman/monja that had a baby and they didn't want anyone to know and the priest woman/monja wanted the priest guy to quit being a priest but he didn't want to so the women hung herself and died so the guy didn't want to feel guilty so he jumped off a building and died so there spirits are in that school

Wally Kraus being in a big city, the LGBT+ community is definitely pretty large at Loyola! Boystown is super fun too, regardless of your sexual identity! Tbh, not many parties but more of hanging out with your close group of friends since parties tend to get shut down quickly. I just graduated, so I hope that helps!
