I don't know if anyone has noticed but there's some absolutely excellent bass playing going on in this song!

Oh yes I've noticed, the bass & drummer kept it rhythm!

Oh yeah, as well as the drummer. This was like a huge jam session for Stevie and the drummer and the bassist kept it together.

@donaldshaffer92752 жыл бұрын
Wasn't the helicopter! The lack of pilots knowledge of obstacles and being mindful of the weather! Usually human error or mechanical issues with misinterpretation of the problem causes most crashes and this being the case here. SRV was a master

That riff starting at 4:49 really sounds like Voodoo. Stevie Ray is the forever guitarist, he'll never fade away. What he left in his wake, I believe has been absorbed into world. In the earth and on the wind. Live on Stevie, we can still hear you. ☮️to all.
@sylvesterbestertester10132 жыл бұрын
Jimi will always be the original. But Stevie who idolized him, brought this song to the next three levels. I don't think Hendrix would have excepted it any other way.

No one yet has been able to touch this phenomenal man on a guitar . SEVERAL has a feel like nobody. Genuine quality. Immense instinct for melody and phrasing. Timing? Creative, on the nose and impeccable. And his backup players Double Trouble are right with him all the way. Great great stuff. I feel shocked when so many listening today don't even know what blues is. . Thanks for your reaction.

Also got a chance to see him twice. First time I went to see him he was backing up Huey Lewis & the news. Then came back out half-way thru. Huey Lewis's set and played with his band. Kind of an awkward show.

SRV you are missed. Many times sitting with you in a little Dallas club called Mother Blues.
@kristahartmann67122 жыл бұрын
I saw Hendrix twice...Palm Beach Raceway & Jacksonville, Fla Coliseum. Galvanizing, revolutionary, visceral performances..in a 'new' world of explosive creativity in music. Also Zep/Pagey. SRV stands on his own as an artist that absorbed influences, creating an articulate, compelling voice. Creating art is an exciting, personal thing...linked with others, yet subjective.... but not a contest. Even Picasso had influences he acknowledged. Connecting is the thing. It's great to see in a different generation.

That friggin tone, holy God it was mind numbing, string breaking, bone chilling, at times ear ringing effing harmonic assault ... just doesnt do it justice playing through logic gates....glad you liked it kid. Sure you would have been there if you were around at the time.. Most of the time he played it more like this version (aside from the near bootleg acoustics) here (starts around 41-30) > kzbin.info/www/bejne/eKHHipqFpJqMd80&index= and then the strings would start breaking, breaking because they were too hot....Just sayin

SRV is prodigy of Jimmi Hendrix. His style the way he plays is a direct homage to Jimi. Matter of fact this is a Hendrix song.
@troyb61282 жыл бұрын
Yea no. He covered 2 Hendrix songs that's about as close as it's gets, Hendrix was rock SRV is blues not a prodigy by any means
@daftoptmst2 жыл бұрын
@@troyb6128 I respectively disagree. Without Jimi there wouldn't be SRV
@billyreno82212 жыл бұрын
@@daftoptmst SRV was a huge fan of Jimi but he was not Stevies biggest influence. Steve learned to play listening to Albert King, BB King, and Buddy Guy. They were way bigger influences on Stevie than Jimi was. If Jimi was never around we would have still had Stevie. We just wouldn't have him playing this song.
