My first concert was Bad Company at the Metro Arena Newcastle upon tyne UK. Just a couple of years ago because when I was younger I didn't make enough money. So my wife Linda knew I like Bad Company so we both went and man they were fantastic. Paul Rodgers vocals was amazing. Can't get enough was spot on Shooting Star was the best. What sets Metallica apart from other metal bands is the quality of their songwriting and emotional musicality. Cliff, their late bassist, was classically trained and a killer writer of melody. Their instrumental 'Orion' is a straight up masterpiece of musical composition. You could also check out 'Fade to Black' for a slower ballad-style piece, or look to 'One' for one of their most iconic songs ever

Very cool! My first big concert was at Castle Donington (Donington Park, UK) also 1987, I was only 16 years old.. Bon Jovi - Dio -Metallica - Anthrax - W.A.S.P. - Cinderella -The Bailey Brothers (DJs) It was an amazing experience and one that will always stay with me, Master of Puppets/Garage days set from Metallica, Among the Living from Anthrax and an incredible stage show from WASP. The crowd was pretty divided with half glam/half thrash. They naturally separated in the crowd, glam on on side, thrash on the other and launched plastic bottles full of piss at each other for most of the day ;)

That was a lot of fun to watch you two. It felt like Andy left the room for a while and was completely off in the music. And seeing Alex smile about 5 seconds before the solo was great, because he knew Kirk was about to go off! You had to hear this song, Andy. There are great songs and there are seminal songs, songs that are so unique and so damn good that they're part of a band's identity. Like Stairway To Heaven, Yes's Roundabout and Bohemian Rhapsody. You gotta hear them to get a feel for the band. And that's Master of Puppets. This song will never grow old.

Dude, great video. The song is about drug addiction - how the drug is your master and you are the puppet. Your desire for drugs is the only thing that matters. You know it will kill you but you look for it anyway. The slow interlude in the middle is representing the lull that heroin gives, your withdrawal from society. Then as the music picks up, you’re searching for more. It’s one of the greatest songs ever. Glad you found it and I can’t wait to watch your reactions to more Metallica and other great bands.

Metallica has two guitar players. The singer, James Hetfield, usually plays rhythm guitar and writes most of the riffs, but also takes a solo now and then. This song is one where he does take a solo, and the first solo you hear during the slower part of the song is him. Later, the faster solo when the song gets fast again is Kirk Hammett. He’s the usual lead guitar player in the band, and so most solos you hear are by him.

I’m a true longtime fan of Metallica. I favor their older work the best so I would focus on their first 3-4 albums. However, they’ve definitely put out some gems since those days, including Hero For A Day. (I will include a link at the bottom to that song performed live back when it was released and James Hetfield’s voice is perfection even live). Here’s the list I recommend from the first 4 albums: Motorbreath, Seek & Destroy, Fight Fire With Fire, For Whom The Bell Tolls, Fade To Black, Creeping Death, The Call of Ktulu, Battery, Disposable Heroes, Orion, The Shortest Straw, Harvester of Sorrow. Out of all of those, Battery is one their hardest/fastest and it’s great. Creeping Death is kick ass. Fade To Black is a true work of art and has one of my favorite guitar solos of all time (the outro too!) and, last but not least, Orion is an instrumental masterpiece! Metallica is an amazing band, each of its members truly talented. I hope you grow to enjoy Metallica as much as I have over the years. Thanks to both of you for doing GREAT reactions! Keep it up. He said ok, but when the day came he said I had to work. I said i was going to the concert and he said if I went, I should turn in my uniforms. So i went home, got all of my uniforms and gave them to him. It was worth it, Judas Priest opened, then Derringer and finally after about a 3 hour wait Led Zeppelin came out. I don't know if it was all of the drugs that were being passed around or the music, but it was a fucking trip I'll never forget. I think he's ready for Holy Wars. Also about not listening to Metallica much these day....yes I remember a time when, like you said, I heard them so much as a kid that I stopped for awhile. Finding different thrash bands and death metal bands had me busy. But, there will come a time, 2 yrs, 5yrs, or 10yrs from now, you will hear a Metallica song and appreciate on a different level that nobody does it like them.

You just got another subscriber. Love to watch people that have never heard a Metallica song and how it changes them. You should do Metallica's "Battery" kick ass song!

From a more, dare i say, "organic" time. When you had to rely on snail mail for fan club merch, had to stand in line for a day at the nearby record store for concert ticket. Then the release of energy at the concert!

First concert Ozzy Osbourne - No rest for the Wicked tour 1988. Yes, I am still an uber Ozzy fan. Suggestions; Fade to Black - lyric video, Creeping Death - live in Moscow 1991

This song is about cocaine. It really is. I consider Ride the Lightning better than the Master of Puppets album, but this whole album is awesome too. Check out Welcome Home (Sanitarium), and Disposable Heroes.

It's about drug addiction in general. Cocaine is referenced, as well as meth (sucking darkest clear).

This song takes me back to being a little little kid head banging with big bro in the 80’s (he got me into metal ...... Lol. I didn’t even understand what the song was about that young lol 🤷🏻♀️..... as an adult it is now my go to song when drug cravings creep up ..... I control me.... well cigarettes and coffee control me know. Lol. Anesthesia pulling teeth it’s in instrumental only and it’s fucking bad ass

To get an idea of the vast musical ground Metallica has covered, you should react to Mama Said or Low Man’s lyric, ( both of which are attempts at Country) then immediately react to Spit out the Bone.

My first concert was AC-DC on Let there be Rock.. Yes, Bon Scott. Of course I still love Metallica all these years later LOL (first Metallica show was on the Ride the Lightning tour)
