@@justsumo Hi, I personally had a good experience, I only had to take 10 courses since I transferred 90 credits to the CS program, SNHU was very flexible when it came to accepting my credits, even some classes from my community college transferred as upper division courses.

For your reference: Thomas Edison State University has NO free drop period... I dropped two 3.0 credit courses on the first day of class and they charged me $834.00 !!! You might want to advise any Thomas Edison students you counsel about this. I just found out that TESU also assigned grades of "W" for these two courses (withdrawn).

I just graduated from ASU a few weeks back. I'm in the military, so I have a bit of a different perspective, but overall, I'm really happy with my experience there. They gave me a lot of credits for military experience, waive fees beyond TA, and have a great support network for active duty and veterans. It was more time consuming than degrees some of my friends are doing at AMU/WGU, but I think it'll be worth it on the back end. I've already started a master's program at Johns Hopkins, and I'm not sure I would've gotten in had I gone to one of those other schools. Good luck and fork 'em!

Hey I’m also military considering going to ASU online, one thing I’m worried about is credit transferability, I’m in the AF so we get like 64 credits from our CCAF. How many credits were they able to get from ur military experience?
@codywilson95062 ай бұрын
@pyrexproductions1448 I got like 120 (I'm in the Marine Corps and about to retire at 20 years so I've been through a few schools) but only 60 credits counted. Kind of just depends on what you want to do. My pending retirement and the fact I was finally in a non-deployable unit lit a fire under my ass to get it done. But if you have time it's definitely manageable. I tend to think it'll hold more weight than a degree from a "traditional" online school that military folks are known to use.
@codywilson95062 ай бұрын
@@pyrexproductions1448 have them do an audit. It's relatively cheap (think maybe $50) so you'll know before you commit.

i think this is one of the differences between an “online school” and a large on-campus university, just doing it online. you’re a student at a big school that everyone knows. it’s not called a global campus or something that was bought at some point and turned into something else (which is usually fine). they do a good job of catering to students that can’t go to campus but it’s not cheap to be a student of ASU. i’m just saying the school in general.
@brianh2574Ай бұрын
I was considering ASU for very superficial reasons. I liked that the degree simply states "Arizona State University" and makes no reference to "online" or "global campus". I also want to attend a school with a decent football team so I can root for the team throughout my life.

If you have all the facts about your options and still choose a given school, no matter the reasons, that’s a good personal choice. :) How you feel about the school is important too!

I just started my first semester in Biology Pre-Dental online at ASU. I am working as a full time dental hygienist and travel for work. I was excited to be able to take courses towards the next step in my career while working. However, I ended having to drop two of my courses in one semester because the accelerated content was like being fed with a firehose of information. The syllabus for my 100 level Bio course specifically said if you are working or have children or have any obligations this course isnt for you. You must dedicate a minimum of 33 hours per week towards this course. Pair that will Precalculus at 22 hours a week. My honest opinion: this is great if you are doing nothing but school. I was a straight A student and am not afraid to work hard. However, you cannot be successful if you are working unless youre taking it very slowly and are good at self learning.
@CollegeHackedАй бұрын
That’s a lot of input for a gen bio course. Usually programs at least wait until organic to start weeding people out 😅 Consider doing a Liberal Studies degree and building your major for the prereqs dental schools want to see.
@marcusmyge2 ай бұрын
I have to disagree here. While Study Hall isn’t very useful. Universal Learner on which it is based, very much is. UL has the same pricing structure as SH, but also offer self-paced (called on-demand) and Upper Division courses in tech and business. Courses taken through Universal Learner and Study Hall count towards residency. Which means if you have courses from a community college and/or some UD credits from a 4 year institution you can get the Liberal Studies degree at a much lower cost. The best degree for Universal Learner that isn’t the Chipotle is the BA Applied Business and Technology Solutions. By my count 23 courses from that degree (70 credits) are available through universal learner at that $425 per course. You can also get admissions without a HS diploma through ASU Earned Admissions.

Super good information! Won’t apply to a ton of people, but for someone really wanting to make ASU work this is rad. Thanks for sharing!
@marcusmygeАй бұрын
@@CollegeHacked still I find there is more value in Universal Learner than you give credit for. Especially if you need some credits for TESU to be able to max the ACE and pay the residency waiver, or are transferring to a community college for some reason.

Student here I am first year, but I have noticed that ASU is a business before a school. They focus their money and effort on profitable research from students (making and selling patents). They do not focus on English nearly as much as STEM courses. I am an engineer, so I do not have personal experience with an English degree here, but in my perception, it is not a focus of the university.

This is pretty much the only school with an online Physics degree. That being said, the suffering must be astronomical at the start if you are not someone who can sit down for 5 hours to figure out a question on your own. In person you just go to office hours and the professor shows you, many times with a practical real-world example. That being said, I think people would get used to it if they try hard. AMAZING to finally see such a complete Physics degree online. FYI: Einstein almost NEVER attended lectures. He studied from his best friend's notes and came on exam dates. Einstein graduated top of his class. Haha, just in case someone thinks an online Physics degree is not worth it. Peace!
