I must say, as much as I love this show, I don't think the "shorts" really capture what makes it so good. It isn't just funny songs made up on the spot, it's the way they take the littlest thing from the beginning, and build on it until it takes over the whole show. They took a flub about being 1/2 man, 1/2 centaur (i.e. 2/3 man, and 1/3 horse) and just ran with it. Even the little callbacks in the finale about the principal and the pizza pockets get their due. It's all wonderful! Glad more people get to see this now

I'm pretty sure that's added in post. They're adding multi-layered Brian May-style guitar lines, as well as synth strings. You can hear the same band on the Off Book podcast, without the post production.

And if I may continue the analogy with the prodigy children that have earned a much deserved spotlight from these gameshow’s. Zeus : Hercules :: Make some noise : Brennan Pushing the bar for improv sounds and sketches higher and higher up that hill every episode he’s on. Hades : Zagreus :: Dirty Laundry : Lily Opening up hell’s gates and bringing peoples dirty sinful lil secrets out in the open. And of course… Poseidon : Atlas :: Play it by Ear : Jessica “the GOAT” McKenna The unsung singer carrying so many improv based dropout episodes on her back. I’m so hyped she’s getting so much more screen time lately! I’ve only just recently looked into her other works and it’s wildly impressive.

I want this to get love and attention because I have always wanted a more visual component to Jess and Zach's improv podcast. I think musical improv is a little niche (maybe? Hard to tell because it's my favorite). This might be going through a trial period at Dropout, so here's hoping it gets renewed. I'm proud of Dropout and all the new ideas coming from that subscription service... I just feel so inspired by all of these talented, creative comedians trying bold things. And of course, forever blown away by the musicians who come up with all of this on the spot. Theatre techs I see you with those lights, a lot of improv shows don't include that great element. And the narrator Mano Agapion brings the same charisma as Sam Reich. He is integral to the flow of the show- the person who thematically sews it all together. Editors you are so clean with your stitching that I almost forgot about you! TL;DR Let's go team! It's amazing how CollegeHumor has developed over the years.

Amazing improv musical. I legit cried with "The Rearview Mirror" song truly made me bust a tear or two. Real friendships always got your back, dont isolate stay close to them and go out from time to time. This actually has some good hidden life lessons to follow. 30:01 24:34 "Sometimes the greatest freedom you can have is the freedom provided by structure" That is actually a really great lesson

I’m surprised how this can act as an actual musical given some revisions (but that isn’t a problem with the show since it’s improv, of course). The theme of friendship and not taking it for granted is beautifully realized with “In the Rear-View Mirror.” Also, it’s just hysterical with the half centaur and their life cycle. Definitely an amazing episode and the right one to be free on KZbin

Okay I think this alone is gonna make me get into musicals, although I guess there won't be a song in any of them where they name drop as many streaming services as possible. So they can only be so much better than this.

jumping on the musical rec train - as someone else said Starkid ABSOLUTELY has the same exact vibes as this. would also recommend Something Rotten, it's a ridiculous comedy about a guy during the Renaissance who invents the musical to spite his worst enemy, Shakespeare. it involves a song about the plague. also tap-dancing eggs
