the Yuuzhan Vong are pretty badass. Filoni revealed at the Untold Clone Wars panel back at Celebration Anaheim that the Vong almost made a cameo appearance in the series. Some lost Vong ship would run into a jedi cruiser or something like that. Anyhow, the concept art shown was really cool.

Kristian, Thrawn did showed up before the Clone Wars in the old EU, in the novel called "Outbound Flight". He met Jorus C'Baoth and Palpatine in that book. Palpatine was the one who knew of the Vong and made a deal with Thrawn to keep track of that menace.

I love that as soon as the council finished their story about how the numbering (IV, V, etc) would be taken out of the titles Kristian referred to A New Hope as just Episode IV. This shows just how ingrained it is as a title to all of us star wars fans. I also like that the episodes have the numerical titles because they help to keep them all straight, at least in my mind when i was just getting into star wars it was very helpful for me to be able to remember which one was which based on the numbers

Hamill would have to portray someone who saw the best and worst of human nature in every form imaginable. Someone who dedicated years into building something meaningful, only to have it crushed before his very eyes. A survivor, a warrior, a Jedi whose contemplating both sides of the force in order to sustain it, to bring balance. A person who killed millions of people and felt billions perish at the press of buttons. This legendary hero will teach Rey everything she'll know, even bring her to the point of near death in order to fully teach her the proper way. There's something that we don't know about Luke Skywalker just yet. It'll be the greatest happening in Star Wars since Darth Vader's infamous line. That would be Oscar-worthy.

I wanted to send this question into the Council but the news beat me to it. But my question is a bit different than what was discussed. So maybe I'll just put it out there and see if anyone picks it up. My question is how bad off is the Resistance's potential military assets after the Force Awakens? The Resistance supposedly lost half of their fleet in the attack on Starkiller Base, the Galactic Senate and a portion of the New Republic's fleet was destroyed by Starkiller Base but Starkiller Base was also host to the largest known deployment of First Order military forces. Shouldn't the death of 79 billion citizens in the Hosnian system reveal the First Order's true intentions, meaning that the Resistance can now count on the full support from the rest of the remaining Republic fleet, assuming there's any left? I know it's hoping too much for the Council to answer this at this point but who knows. Thanks everyone. Love thinking through these things with you good folks.

JJ Abrahms was 100 % serious about Mark Hamill winning an Oscar. Less you forget, it isn't just a guy who hasn't played Luke Skywalker in 30 years. He's an actor who is 30 years better than when he originally played Luke Skywalker. With all the hype (likely rightfully so) about Logan putting Jackman in Oscar talk, It laid the dialogue for JJ to say, Hamill could receive the same. The director they have, if the writing and story lends the opportunity, Hamill's experience can knock it out the park. If it is a little darker, and if anything is true to Adam Driver's Empire comparison... this could be Hamill's big swan song shining moment. Even if it's a two parter. Less you forget about that round table years earlier with him and JJ. Mark Hamill wanted Luke to go dark. Meaning more emotional. Meaning more depth. And here we are.

what's interesting to me is how it's glazed over that there are no to ridiculously short amount of reshoots for episode VIII, which is set up by design, and what was made was so good (theoretically) that there is no need to reshoot even with Carrie Fishers passing. I'll always refer to them by episode. That's what made the movies unique. They are one story and we only see parts of it. That's what help makes the EU stuff feel valid to me. The story never ends.

Jana Solo / Rey Theory I think Rey is going to be Jana Solo. In the visual guide, it is stated that Han and Leia suffer a profound loss . This happens well before blood line (See visual guide). Blood line takes place years before FA. Theory: I think an ambiguous entity, took it upon themselves to separate the two Skywalkers heirs in fear of what could happen if they both were turned. Leia states that Snoke had been watching Kylo since birth. Knowing this, what if an entity with an attachment to the Force did what was necesary to ensure balance. Using the Falcon they took Rey to the one place no one would find her, which is the outer reaches to a planet with known Force potential. This person would have to know the history of Jaku and its importance. Why leave her with Unkar Platt and not the members of the Church of the Force? The first answer to this is simple. If you are trying to hide a force sensitive child that may dictate the fate of the galaxy, you probably don’t what to place her directly with a group of people who are fly the banner of “the Church of the Force”. Secondly, although Platt is an unconventional pick, Platt was a business man. What if the Falcon was left as payment for watching over Rey. It is been seen in the deleted scenes that Platt shows up at Maz’s castle to collect the ship or what he there to collect Rey. I believe the Church, who is also on Jaku, provided further support to ensure that Platt did what he was paid to do. Finally, the statement Kylo makes to Han at the the end of FA is interesting. He tells Han that “Ben Solo was weak, I am strong” paraphrasing. This suggests that Ben’s force abilities were once tested and he came up lacking. His disdain for Han and his statement to Rey that Han would disappoint her as a Father, screams resentment. Rey arrived on Jaku when she was 5 years old. If she was taken from the Solo family at that age, then Kylo would have been 16. The loss of his younger sister would give Ben/Kylo the push necessary to move towards the dark side. This would explain why Leia felt so strongly about sending him to Luke. So who would do this? The person would have intimate knowledge of the Force and its history. 1. Luke Skywalker: Luke is more powerful in the Force then anyone to date on film and may be playing the long game.Remember this would not be the first time Luke played the long game, inwhich people he loved became subjugated for the greater good. His plan to free Han involved multiple moving parts that came together in the end. During this plan, Leia became a slave, Lando became a guard on a hut ship, 3PO and R2 become service droids. 2. Leia: A mothers love for her child. Leia knew how prone Ben/Kylo was to the dark side. She also knew that Snoke was watching. The only way to keep her daughter safe would be to fake her death. Send her to a place where no one would think to look for her, but leave her all of the bread crumbs necessary to find her way home when it was time. 3. The Church of the Force: As a neutral entity, the Church of the Force understands balance. If Lor San Tekka, was aware of the possibility that Ben would shift to the dark side he would know to take precautions to ensure that a light side Skywalker would remain. Being aware of Snoke’s watchful eye on Ben, The Church of the Force took it upon themselves to hide the second Solo child with Leia complicit in the scheme or not. They stole the flacon and placed her on Jaku where they had established a colony. Knowing that they would be in contact with the Skywalker they left her in the care of Platt whom they could access and retrieve the girl at any moment. Furthermore, the Flacon remained on the planet to serve as a homing beacon should she ever leave the planet. Finally, isn’t it a bit strange that the Falcon never left Jaku until it was time for its where about to become known? Please let me know your thoughts!

The reason why they couldn't be sensed in the first place was because they were stripped from it. If they were canonized, they just make it that they aren't disconnected from the Force at all. Done. One of the focuses of the series was about finding a deeper understanding in the Force. I wish there was a better explanation than "the force kicked them out".

If They were alive, why didn't bail organa call for them in rouge one, since there in the rebellion. Instead he had to get obi wan, who is in hiding. 2. Yoda said in rotj, that Luke was the last Jedi once yoda dies. True he might not have even known Kanan had ever survived, but still.

I think the reason for Lucasfilm to drop the episode numbers is to go to an era prior to The Phantom Menace. They have to get rid of the idea that The Phantom Menace is the beginning of the Star Wars story before they can actually tell stories set before that film. Because how would an Old Republic era film be numerised as? Episode -4? I think the dropping of episode numbers isn't just to make it easier for anthology films, we're getting Old Republic stories soon. They've hinted at is in several stories already. We're getting it. And it will be good!

From the perspective of someone who has just watched the movies and not read any of the new Star Wars books I came out of Force Awakens thinking it had been pretty even in the end. Yes, the First Order destroyed Hosnian Prime and the Senate, but equally they had lost Starkiller Base and all of their top officers and men station there, similar to what happened when the first Death Star blew up. However when the Death Star went kaboom the Empire was still in one piece and was huge and had immeasurable resources to call on. The First Order do not have that kind of resources, they are much smaller than the Republic. Now ok, they are more military and are being controlled by Snoke, but surely with a clear and present danger now obvious wouldn't the republic would pull together quickly?

I love a select few things from prequel trilogy SW, but I absolutely agree with Kristian. Don't necessarily have to change the actor but change the script and the way Anakin is written. Also focusing more on Obi-Wan. Maybe also keep Darth Maul alive for the first two films at least. Darth Revan, Malik and Bane all need to be cannon cmon.

With the Acolytes being all about masks, and them probably being the Knights of Ren, i think a famous mask like Revans will be revealed soon to make him canon. I hope.

I honestly think that's what holding the Star Wars video games back is the issues with what's is or what's is not Canon. I think it would be easier to have the games not count as Canon then it would be for them to be a part of it. I think there needs to be some leniency when it comes to games to give developers the free range to make a great game. I mean look at the games before canon, some were incredible; The stories with Kyle Katarn and StarKiller are just two examples of what kind of things we can get without the shackles of Canon. And granted we've only had one game to come out with the new canon in place but look how that turned out, bland, repetitive and without any Singleplayer content. Looking forward to how the new ones turn out though. Wow, that's one of the longer comments I've done on KZbin. Sorry if it doesn't make sense. :)

I've had the same idea as Kristian about changes I'd make. Anakin should have been a Naboo fighter pilot that survived the blockade escape with them (he's that good). Then put TPM and AotC together and make ep2 during the Clone Wars .

Perhaps they're doing away with the episodic number system because they intend to make so many of them that they'll get to a point where the roman numerals become too complex for the general audiance member, so they're getting on top of that way ahead of time. I hope so because I want the Skywalker saga to keep going as well as these stand alone films & hopefully an Old Republic Trilogy when they take a break between Episodes 9 & 10 or 12 & 13.

Besides we are getting closer to the point the Roman Numerical is going to become very confusing for a lot of people who still don’t know how it works. Whether some want to admit or not there are strong foundations in the prequels and attacking them or ignoring them solves nothing.

Go ahead and market the films as ST: TPM, ST: AotC, ST: RotS, ST: ANH, ST: TESB, ST: RotJ, ST: TFA, ST: TLJ. But the episode numbers keep in the opening crawls.

I personally noticed they've been avoiding the numerical part of the title since they first announced the force awakens title. Never since has lucasfilm officially referred to the saga films numerically. I don't think it has anything to do with how they are telling stories though. I think the reasons were twofold, numerical stuff highlights the prequels to new fans, and also expecting new fans to come to the 7th chapter of a story makes people think "can I see this without the others". They wanted TFA to be a worldwide phenomenon, and to do that they needed old and new fans alike, and if it was emphasised as chapter 7, and not a new beginning it could alienate new fans. Obv it was successful, I know quite a few people who saw TFA who'd never seen the others

Not using episode numbers MIGHT indicate a desire to do another prequel trilogy, and removing episode numbers would minimize confusion regarding timelines.
