A delightful episode that features Lassie and her basset friend, Pokey, taking a day to themselves to enjoy some adventures.
TRIVIA: The bakery clerk is none other than Jon Shepodd who would later appear as part of the regular Lassie cast as Mr. Martin - Timmy's adoptive father - the following season (4), but would be replaced by Hugh Wiley in Season 5 when Cloris Leachman (who played Mrs. Martin in Season 4) leaves the series and is replaced by June Lockhart. Wiley and Lockhart would remain for all the rest of the Timmy and Lassie seasons (5 through 10).
EXTRA TRIVIA: Joe Conley (1928-2013) who plays the delivery driver in this episode also played many small roles on television but is most remembered for his role as the storekeeper Ike Godsey on "The Waltons" which ran from 1972-1981. Conley began his TV acting career in 1955 after returning home from his military service in Korea. His first role was as a police officer in the series "Big Town". After six other small roles in several lesser series he was cast for the delivery man role in this Lassie episode. Immediately afterwards his career zoomed upwards as he began getting more prime time roles including one in "The Danny Thomas Show" (aka "Make Room For Daddy") series in 1957. His TV acting career ran for over 20 years, his biggest break coming when he was cast as a regular member in the prime time hit series "The Waltons". He died at age 87 in 2013.
