My father, now deceased, was born in the Bronx "da Bronx" in the 1920s. He never much cared for the early video era, but occasionally, I would catch him off guard when something like this came on, and push him to check it out. He actually laughed his ass off while taking in Collin’s perspective on Brooklyn. From all the things he told me about growing up in NY, I’m pretty sure he could relate to Collin’s “I don’t think so” AKA “fuggedaboutit” response to visiting the old hood. Regardless, you’ve got to love the city for what it is, or what it was...

"I'm going back to Brooklyn, Brooklyn, Brooklyn...Man I don't think so." Patrice Oneal once pointed out on Tough crowd that Colin had real knowledge about black people. He also said the following about Colin: "He is in pergatory. Black people don't like him and white people don't understand him. He does not know where is going." Now I have seen this video I appreciate Patrice's statement even more. Hahahaha. Man, I miss that guy. He was such an insightful human being.

I'll add this for those unaware - this song is comedian Collin Quinn's parody of LL Cool J's "Going back to Cali" - if you haven't seen that music video you may not get the humorous parallels to the original song.

Brooklyn isn't really like this anymore. Bunch of hipsters for the most part.
@terracottapie7 жыл бұрын
That statement is really indicative of someone who has never set foot in Brooklyn and just going off what you see on TV. The part where the hipsters are is about 30-40% of Brooklyn. The rest of it is full of all kinds of people, including thousands of these Sopranos-extras-looking people.
@NousProductions6 жыл бұрын
terracottapie: I'm from Queens and I've been to Brooklyn many times. Only in isolated sections do you find anything even closely resembling what is depicted in this video. Most of the "Sopranos" looking people have moved to Staten Island. Anyway, thanks for sharing your ignorance. In the interim, keep watching reruns of "The Sopranos" in your little cottage in Iowa.
