It's hard to pinpoint exactly why Collin's Lab is so damned entertaining while being quietly informative. But it really is! Thanks, y'all!

If there is one thing better then an educational Electronics Video, it is an educational Electronics Video that is funny! This video, and the preceding ones were BOTH, and I love them. I have always maintained that in order to stay young, a feat I am trying very hard to accomplish, despite my 67 years on this big blue marble, one must keep his mind active, to do this, I attempt to find some new knowledge to absorb, these videos do that nicely and always with a smile. So thank you both for keeping me young and involved in the electronics.

Just two footnotes/hints. 1. Re-bend bend the leads of the component after soldering to a stright vertical position. It will be seriously easier to de-solder. 2. Use properly sized socket for ICs, do not solder them directy onto the board. Two reasons: 1. no heat stress on IC, 2. easier de-soldering.

Dude that's pretty massive solder spool. There should be a breadboard thingy for the double row headers. I hate hooking those up manually. Hold that thought, I think you could actually cut the breadboard underlying strips in half for that purpose! I'm going to try that now.

let's say you have a proto board such as the beaglebone proto cape. it's essentially a perma proto board, but doesn't have the separation in the middle to isolate pins. how would one go about isolating the other side in case you want to put an ic or some sort of sensor on the cape?

Hi, Myself Rajiv, from India..I have often found that while soldering on a Perforated Board the metal pads come out of the base plastic often, if a little heat is expended, while connecting, say, Node points, wherein two or three wires have to meet to form a Node point..If the Metal Pads come out then the circuit fluctuates due to loose joints, and the output is inaccurate. Is there any way to come across this Problem ? Thanks, Rajiv.

What do you do when many components need to connect to the ground or Vcc on your perfboard? I'm somewhat new to the perfboard, I did a project with an Arduino and 6 (7?) components (to date. I plan on expanding it) and they all needed to be connected to ground. I ended up running an exposed wire through them hovering a few mms above the board and then carefully taping it to make sure nothing shorts anything else but it's far from being a good solution. (Maybe I should've shrink tubed? And then exposed parts of it?) Though it did work fine so far & stayed secure through flights and events I brought it to. Great tutorial Adafruiters :) BTW, if anyone's interested in my small project, look for "Dalek Fez" on my channel.

The PermaProto board is a great thing... but... I've been using YwRobot's breadboard PSU ( www.hobbytronics.co.uk/prototyping/breadboards/breadboard-power-supply ) but the spacing between the power rails and the main prototyping area is a little wider on a regular breadboard and a little narrower on a PermaProto board

Sometimes power electronics components have wider legs and cannot be inserted in to bread board in that case how to fix that components?
@bjrntnnesen9207

Is lam you cant fix it. you need to find “breadboard friendly” of it.
