What does one even practice to obtain half of Carl's dexterity? I've only been playing for a year but this seems other-worldly

Not sure how old you are, but it takes decades of practice to even get close to this. A lot of it also given natural gift - like rhythm. Listen to as much as you can, and train yourself to think more like the greats, but ultimately a lot of it is given or not
