Colnago Super & Campagnolo Super Record FINAL RESTORATION

This is the final episode of the Colnago Super restoration project. This build is a great showcase of the Italian cycling era, featuring the 3 Cs: Colnago, Campagnolo, Cinelli. Vintage restorations really can’t get much better than this.
To build this gorgeous Italian machine we have used the best groupset from the late 70s and early 80s: Campagnolo Super Record. Only the brakes and brake levers are from groupsets Victory & Triomphe from the 80s just because we like the way they look.

That is such a beautiful bike, very much like the '74 Eddy-orange Colnago Super I had -a wonderful bike. You could make it a 4C with Clement tubulars! Btw, the 2 big bolts on the Super Record rear derailleur are not aluminum: they're titanium, and so is the bottom bracket spindle/axle, pedal spindles, brake attachment bolts, and a few other small bits I can't remember. This was the main difference between SR and NR, and a few SR parts were black to make it clearer. The BB spindle sometimes failed, and often enough that Campy stopped using titanium for a long time. During the '76 Olympic road race, I saw a rider (Bulgarian?) sitting on the grass on the roadside with his SR-equipped Colnago with a broken BB spindle. I would have spoken with him, but he looked pretty pissed :(

Hi, the story with the Bulgarian is very cool. I therefore left the titanium BB axle in the display case. I think the limit is 70 or 80 kg. My Super record derailleur is from 1979 and indeed had the original Alu bolds. Probably some transitional model. Thank you very much for the interesting comment and keep me in your favor.

Nice job, but the handlebar deserved to be sewed in leather. And to my opinion it’s more helpful to mount the wheels before the brakes.
