Lovely city, warm and friendly people, and outstanding weather in summer! This video is quite insightful in terms of what one could do in Koln.

So you've been there ? Any feedback ?

Yes....I have been there, and can't wait to go back again. If you like chocolate, go to the Chocolate Museum. It's right there on the Rhine, and really cool to go through. See how chocolate is made from tree to end product. One other thing, is that if you have a significant other, get a lock, have it engraved, and then you are supposed to throw the keys in the river. Kind of a sappy thing to do, but we did it. And enjoy the food and beer! First time I had blood cake with apples and mashed potatoes at Fruh am Dom. One of the best meals of a 2 week trip to Germany. It might sound not so appetizing.....but if you like trying different cuisine, I would encourage you to try it! And go around the cathedral. Lot's of shops and cool stuff around there.

Thanks a lot Barton, I surely like to try new cuisine and chocolate making. I too will be spending two weeks in Germany this spring , mostly Bonn and Berlin .

My pleasure! 2 weeks in Germany....NICE! Would love to go back sometime soon....but London is calling my name.....lol. A couple of other things to look for. In Bonn, you should go to the Haribo outlet. They have tons of Haribo candy for sale. Also, go to Drachenfels...or Dragon Rock (in english). There is a castle there, with ruins farther up the hill. And the view is really spectacular....and well worth the trip. You should try currywurst in all the cities you go. They may have the same name, but there are differences. Are you going to the south, or staying more in the north? We were lucky and have a German friend and his family who took us to Hamburg, Cologne, Munich, Berlin, Bonn, and alot of smaller towns.

Brennerei Weiss does not make Kölsch on location. I saw they served Sion fresh from Fass.

Cologne would be such a wonderful City, if it wasn`t for all this horrible architecture all over the place!

its the people that make the city…it got pounded by the allies during the war…not a bad recovery considering...
@12tanuha216 жыл бұрын
if the cathedrale would have not survived the war, the whole city would be builded up at another place. Too much was destroyed. It was a one big debris field.

I can't recommend Cologne. Ardenauer wanted a new city in concrete after WW2. It is the most bad example of rebuilding in the hole Germany - and that include the east also! Fortunately the bahnhof goes right into the city. Just step out for an hour or so - see the Dome - and of you go to beautiful Swartswald.
