Enjoyed this video so much. Headed to the Cologne Markets this year and I now know I will need a checked bag to get home with those cute boot mugs!

Aren’t they the cutest?! We ended up wrapping a sweater around each one to bring about 6-7 mugs home safely. Still can’t believe we fit them in our carry-ons but it’s possible! Enjoy your visit and the Markets! ♥️🎄

Can you do a post trip review? Which places should you stay longer or shorter, your thoughts on the markets, train or travel tips, packing tips etc? How did you get things home, etc? Thank you!

Hi Paulette! Thank you for the suggestion. That’s a great idea. We will definitely consider doing that for future videos. If you want some more information on the Christmas markets we have lots of blogs on each market we went to that answer some of those questions. Here is the link. andrewandkait.com/category/journeys/christmas-markets/ Thanks for watching 😊

"Die Heinzelmännchen von Köln"/ The Heinzelmännchen of cologne : Many years ago, it is said, there was a small folk in Cologne, also known as brownies. This very special kind of household spirits did the leftover work of the people. Secretly at night, when everyone was asleep, they did their work because they wanted to remain anonymous. The citizens gratefully accepted this help. So their worries were forgotten and they could go to bed in the evening with peace of mind. One day, however, the tailor's wife played a devious trick on the elves in order to see the creatures, because their curiosity was great. Towards midnight, when the elves turned up to do their work, there was a loud bang and shouting in the tailor's shop. The tailor's wife had distributed peas on the stairs and now the brownies tumbled down the stairs one after the other and stayed at the foot of the stairs. Quite to the laughter of the woman, because she saw the little house spirits and fell into a sneering mockery. The brownies sadly made off into the dark night and disappeared forever. The next morning, when the citizens of Cologne woke up, the work that had been left was not done and from then on the people had to do their work alone again! And what many of tourists don´t know: you can do a "Weihnachtskrippen Wanderweg/nativity scene hikingway to see a lot and diffrerent types of them. They have numbers! Thank you for this detailed explanations of our big Chrismas Markets. we have lot more, little ones in the Neighbourhoods/ Veedel/Quarters.

Amazing! Thank you so much for the story of the heinzelmännchen. It was our favorite market we have ever visited. We will definitely have to try the hikingway next time. Thank you for watching 😊

Hey I'm travelling to Cologne to visit Christmas markets and this was really helpful. Quick ques: which Christmas market in Cologne has the best Bratwursts (or which stall specifically)?
@AndrewandKait Жыл бұрын
Hi Kuldeep! We passed up the bratwurst on these markets for the handbrot in the video. Highly recommend that. As for bratwursts you can find them at each market and I would imagine they are all very similar style and flavors. We also got amazing fire grilled salmon at Flammlachs in the Heinzels markets. You will find great food everywhere. If you want any more tips we wrote a blog on Cologne that could help your planning. andrewandkait.com/2022/12/04/cologne-christmas-markets-travel-guide/ Hope that helps! Thanks for watching 😊

would you say its possible to do visit cologne market in 1 full day an frankfurt market in one full day ? or would you recommend choosing either for a full 2 day experience ?
@AndrewandKait Жыл бұрын
You can do one day each! If you were to choose an extra day in either place, we’d recommend an extra day in Cologne’s Markets over Frankfurt. Cologne has more of them, and they’re our personal favorites!

How did you move around the markets? Did you rent a car?
@AndrewandKait3 ай бұрын
In Cologne, we walked from market to market. But from one city to another we always take trains!
