This was a great video. I want to add something that other Colombians haven't said yet. Here the word "campesino" doesn't have the negatively connotation that the word "peasant" has in English. Here it is used to talk about a part of the population, a historically important one. It implies particular cultural characteristics. Many people take pride in the fact of being campesinos or being descendant of them, as myself.

@@infinitejinpachi yes and no, campesino is a direct translation of the word peasant but the word itself isn’t a slur and is more like commoner in terms of not being offensive to people that come from common means or agricultural country pumpkins. I myself am a descendant of polish campesinos.

I discovered you through your Turkmenistan video and holy shit, your videos are so fascinating, and this video is so accurate and very well summarized. Coming from someone who had always lived in Bogotá, most of the dangers mentioned above were always distant to me, as conflict seemed like it was everywhere around the country, and it indeed has been. Colombia is a very beautiful country, rich of culture, gastronomy, ecosystems, animals, plants and unique landscapes, but oh man, the government is horrendous, and it has been so awfully managed over the last years with all this conflict everywhere in the countryside. Keep the content up man! This and many other of your videos have been so entertaining to watch! Saludos desde Colombia! 🇨🇴🇨🇴🇨🇴

Good video overall, of course, it is a very brief overview of the situation. One recommendation tho: don't skip the first last name of the people you talk about: you mentioned "Dictator Gustavo Pinilla", "president Alvaro Vélez" and "president Juan Calderón" for example, and yet those people are most commonly known for their last names: "Gustavo ROJAS Pinilla", "Alvaro URIBE Vélez" and "Juan Manuel SANTOS Calderón". If you ask any Colombian if they know who "Álvaro Vélez" or "Juan Calderón" are they might not know who are you talking about, but if you ask them about "Uribe" or "Santos" they will surely know.

Another point, former guerrillas are BY NO MEANS stronger than they were before the peace process and the demobilization of FARC-EP, most "guerrilla forces" now are scattered bands of former fighters barely organized in the colombo-venezolan border and with much less capacity to cause harm or control any kind of territory. Paramilitaries on the other hand are on the rise in strength and cruelty, more often than not aided by the state itself and the military to exert control and terror on many rural communities and urban peripheries.

its not drug and violence the problem, the problem is the government corruption and the lack of care for the population's problems. The drug war, should be fought within the USA, by stopping the addiction of Americans, and ending the Market, instead of persecuting poor farmers and spraying toxic agents in the Colombian fields. All problems in latin america can be traced to imperialism, and US intrusion.

@@Goblinhandler whatever you say "mocropenis maniac". when you say "our" who are you referring to? Corruption yes, the US backs corrupt governments in colombia in exchange for the drug war never ends, since its so profitable for the USA as they sell all the military equipment to Colombia. Violent Groups (MIlitias) rose as all political ways were impossible due to the assassination's of the most popular left wing candidates such as Gaitan, many UP candidates and all these murders were backed by the USA since it smelled too much of communism. Crime rates are due to poverty due to years of exploitation for gold and many other resources by spain, and the mass move of africa slaves to the americas. after being liberated, corrupt colombia gvernments sold most natural resources to foreign industries, which most part were americans, leaving not much wealth for the colombian population since the corrupt government took most of the money from foreing imports.. so yes.
