📍My guide to Colombia's pacific coast:

Planning a Colombia trip? Then don't miss my in-depth itineraries:
www.indietraveller.co/colombi...
In this Colombia travel vlog, I take you to the underrated and undertraveled Pacific Coast, a wild region unconnected by road where you can see a stunning variety of wildlife. I was fortunate to see numerous humpback whales, witness a baby sea turtle release, and see numerous jungle creatures on boat trips and hikes. The town of Bahia Solano in the Choco region was my entry point for the Pacific Coast as it has a small airstrip, though I stayed in El Valle by the coast, and visited the Utria National Park.

you visited one of the most unknown place even for most Colombians, the Pacific jungle is (relatively) far away and a jewel for Eco tourism.

@@indietraveller Ur welcome, it's a great video 😁 But it's sad that many people still do think this country is still the same of 20 years ago, and that there's only guerrillas, drug cartels and crimes over all, so are afraid to visit bcuz of that. I wish they could see this video to realize traveling around here is likely safe now ❤️

Definitely it’s an unknown region even for Colombians. Completely different to the Caribbean coast in its geography culture and isolation. Today its expensive to arrive to the region because its done by plane. But it worths the visit: the experience traveling to a jungle with sea and the local dishes are really good. Nice lodges run by the owners area also outstanding. Certainly, this region escapes from the classical view of south America. The “pacific side walk” deserves more attention from the central goverment generating investments, security and tourist promotion.

Not sure if you’ve been to Salento but I only have a week and am trying to decide between Bahia Solano and Salento. I will be in Medellin and plan to take a day trip to Guatape. Thoughts?
@indietraveller
@indietraveller Жыл бұрын
Yeah I've been to Salento, it's very nice. They're both very different though! Bahia Solano feels very 'undiscovered' and remote. Salento is highly touristy but the palm trees are very impressive. It really depends on what you are most interested in.

@@indietraveller came back loving it and wanting to go back. I love my country and there is so much to visit. Thanks for the video. It really is casual, humid, rugged at times, peaceful, adventure, tranquility. I ate well, didn't gain weight. Great small community of locals creating a wonderful environment for visitors and for themselves. Rain, yes even earthquakes. Rained at night around 3am so by the time we started our day it was fine. The sand typically is wet and since we walked so much in the sand I didn't feel the two earthquakes that were reported. Some folks did. I figured it maybe because they were in solid structures vs. us walking on the beach. 🤷🏻‍♀️ I took a flight from Bogota to Medellin to Nuqui & boat over. All arranged by the hotel I stayed at. The host arrived 20mins after expected but the police was super helpful. Didn't feel worried at all. There is not much going on in the immediate area of the hotel. Some visitors opt to stay there but Im glad my hotel was closer to all the activities in Guachalito. It was a win visit, we witness whales from the beach and out on the boat. Turtles, dolphins, birds, lizards, monkeys, snakes and much more. I am so glad I stayed 5 days and would have loved to stay longer. You definitely could do much of what is there in 3 days but I didn't want to rush. I have great memories and new friends. 🫶🇨🇴💛💙❤️ Def water shoes, the sand is sticky, makes it easier when hiking. Light breathable clothing. Nothing seemed to really dry even when you left it hanging for a day or two. Humidity is REALLY HIGH. I didn't worry about doing my hair. Added conditioner and went on my day. I have no idea why anyone would consider blow-drying their hair but I heard some stories. This area is super chill at night but some hotels do offer beer, drinks. Seemed more like hanging out at a neighbors backyard than at different hotels.
