Princess Kate takes over from Prince William as Colonel of the Irish Guards. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge were met by the regiment for formal celebrations on St Patrick's Day. The Duchess handed out sprigs of shamrocks to mark the occasion, despite the wet weather.

Prince William's style is now "The Prince of Wales", he will always be Prince William, but we use his higher title of Prince of Wales (The first born male to the King, title to be gifted by the monarch) now. Catherine is not a princess. She was not born from the body of a Queen, nor her father was a Prince, nor her grandmother / granfather was a Queen / King. She could be called Princess William of Wales but we don't use that style because she has been given a higher style such as Duchess of Cambridge (present from the Queen when she got married to the then Prince William) and more recently "The Princess of Wales". The only higher style than that for her will be Queen Consort once her husband becomes a King, and then she will be styled "Queen". The Guards are British. Ireland is a separate independent sovereign country. I hope this is not too confusing!😆

I missed the wee pony; I love seeing HRH Queen Elizabeth , and the pony especially the time he tried to eat her boquet of flowers she was so darling as she scolded him.
